Sorry this may have been answered elsewhere but I couldn't find it. I am hoping not ot have to bring too much electric stuff across with me, but have noticed that on the site there is reference to bringing irons, microwaves etc
Could you tell me can we find these things in KSA (i have transformers etc for the voltage issue) thank you

yes, you can find irons and microwaves in many stores, but they're all 220V, not 110V like Aramco houses. That's why everyone is recommending to bring them from the USA. You can find 110V sometimes, but it's harder to find and more expensive. We bought our GE microwave here in Saudi, 110V, but it was more expensive than the USA price, even with the discount we got for my husband's 10 year service award.

You actually require your transformer to step up from 120V to 240V (any transformer will step up or down depending on the voltage you plug it into) but you will be surprised at how many of your appliances can be used on any voltage from 100-240. Check each appliance and they should tell you what voltage they can use and also the power which is in Watts (W). This power rating is important if you intend to use a transformer as the transformer needs to be rated higher in watts than the appliance you are going to use.
Don't be overly concerned about voltages as you will likely have at least one 240 socket in the kitchen and in reality it is unlikely you will be using more than one 240 appliance at once.
