o, I am new to this forum but have spent several evenings reading the various topics - questions and replies. Am feeling somewhat overwhelmed to it all so shall try to remain brief with my queries. My husband has to accept or decline his job offer in KSA imminently. We are a family of 6 - four girls aged 7, 3 (twins) and 1. The offer has stated that we would reside on the Rakkah compound. I have seen the photo's. Is there any reason why so many threads here and on other websites speak of the Dharhan compound as the one to be on?
Our main apprehension about accepting the job offer and living on Rakkah is based on 2 issues and reading the overwhelming love people have of the Dharhan compound worries me slightly that nothing else would compare or be suitable for me as a woman but also one with 4 children.
Firstly and most importantly is the children. We would prefer to send the girls to the british school but I cannot get hold of anyone in either of the british schools to speak to. So can anyone shed any light on how long it would take for the eldest to get to either of the schools and how? As a hands on Mother she is used to me taking and collecting her from school - what are the possibilities of me being able to take her to school and collect even if it was just until she got settled? I believe through reading other threads there is no transport from Rakkah - so how does one go about getting children to school if this is the case - private driver? Leading on from this is the care of the other 3 children. We have been told the twins can attend preschool on Rakkah for half a morning is there anything available for my one year old? Playgroup or nursery so I could have some time to take either of the older 3 to school or nursery or simply just to have a break?
Secondly are there opportunities available on the Rakkah compound for me especially as I will have 3 children most of the time? I have read it being described as a 90 acre plot compared to Dharhan which has a 5 mile radius and that all means to engage in activities ( horse riding being my passion) and join groups, get out and about more take place here. Could I visit the Dharhan compound during the day to capitalise on all it has to offer for example?
I am very keen to see only the positives such an opportunity to live in KSA would give but any advise for a family of 6 coming over would be gratefully received if not least to allay my concerns. If there are any british families already living in Rakkah it would be great to speak to you.
One final query. The relocater has stated that we would have to be over in KSA by December and we could not postpone the start date. Is it worth trying to negotiate this as we would prefer Feb/March next year? I have read that all the visa's and background checks can take a while but our relocater indicated it would be quick. Equally if life for a family of 6 would be better suited to living on the Dharhan compound especially if we are considering the british schools should we continue to negotiate with this. They have already said it's Rakkah and there is no movement on this but sometimes it doesn't hurt to try again.
Thank you so much in advance.
