Hi, my friend just been offered in Al hasa living in udhailiya as family practioner. Kids 9,6&2 yr old from UK. Few questions. 1. Any British school in the commuting distance in Alhasa? 2. Travel time from compound to alhasa and the means of commuting? 3. Told that work will finish at 1530 with half hour travel time to reach home at 1600. Is the same apply to start time as well. 4 what time bus leaves in the morning?

Hi vpainter, I know this is an old thread, but I am in roughly the same boat as the poster now; is there any chance you could forward the email to me as well please?

I lived in AlAhsa from 2001 to 2014.its a foreigner friendly place.people are educated and broad-minded .women have to wear abaya which I think is better as it protects the skin from 50-53 degree Celsius heat .if somebody is offered accommodation in udailiyah housing,he should accept it..The best school in AlAhsa for foreigners is Nada international school(before it had both British and American curriculum both but now it has British only) but many students daily go to Dammam, there the schools are better. For Indians there is an Indian school up to matric level, then the students go to Khobar for intermediate.Indian school bus takes them to Khobar daiky.Pakistani school standard is the worst.I will suggest Riyadah or Nada school to them(fees is too much).I will suggest to rent a house near your working place(esp doctors,in Ramadan duties are in morning and night both) as after grade 8 , many parents send their children to Dammam or Khobar.Nada school is with in an housing but udailiyah housing is better for people coming from US,UK,Canada & Australia.Udailiyah is far from proper city, but it doesn'tmatter as people usually go out only on weekends.Shopping and going to beach is the best outing here.you can keep a maid or Bengali brother for house hold work.House wives have lot of time.they can continue their education as Saudi Arabia is a center of many examinations.Saudia is tax free country and AlAhsa is good place to save money(better than Dammam or Khobar as there are places to spend money).there are many farmhouses in AlAhsa.many families collectively rent a farmhouse on weekend and spend night there.each farmhouse has separate swimming pool for ladies.here fresh vegetables from farms are available.AlAhsa is the largest oasis in the world.if anyone has any query,he/she can directly contact me on 0018326729570.alahsa is a great place to live and I still miss it.
