I am at the very final stages of the paperwork process (BI and medical sent to SA for clearance), and have just talked to my relocation advisor about possible departure dates.
A quite upsetting conversation to be honest: she wanted to plan a departure date in August and was shocked to learn that I have 4 months notice period with my current employer. I politely pointed out that nobody has ever asked me about my notice period since the process began, and in any case it is not something I can control.
Very annoying to get all this pressure right now, considering how long it takes to Aramco to give the thumbs up... and to be honest, now I am little worried that they withdraw the offer because it is taking too long for me to get there. I wouldn't mind if that happens BEOFE I give my notice period of course.
Do Aramco takes into account that once they tell somebody to resign they should stick to their offer of employment?

I worked 2 and half months out of a 3 month notice period and I know others who were the same (3 month notice period). It's fairly common and you should work with Aramco to try and find a date that's suitable to both.
The main problem that you may have is that when Aramco & the Saudi government issue the visa, it requires that you travel to the country within a 90 day period. I believe (but you should check with your adviser) that the visa can be extended but if they have to apply again, it may delay the overall process.
4 months is a long time and perhaps your present company can help you out. I appreciate that it is a difficult situation
The main thing Aramco will tell you is not to resign until things are finalised. A nerve wracking time I'm sure but it does seem to be an Aramco 'quirk' that they want you as quickly as possible despite the long process to get there.

Thank you Buster. Yes I will definitely negotiate with my current employer, though I think I'll be able to come down to 3 months (maybe 2), not less.
I really hope that once Aramco tell you to resign, they actually do not withdraw the offer thereafter because of the long notice period. That would really be a problem...

I am pretty sure that notice period is asked for when filling up the Employement form, what did you put in there? I think Aramco will work around what you have provided them with!

I received this email today :
I wanted to share communication that has been communicated by the Senior VP in Saudi Aramco regarding candidates whom accept the position within Saudi Aramco and current in the relocation process.
No arrival delay will be approved for any reason, therefore, all candidates in processing should be notified that they should be ready to relocate as soon as they have cleared all contingencies and get their visa.
I would also like to add this is an opportunity of a lifetime, which will not be able to wait whether you are ready or not.
I am certain YOUR ARE READY, hence the reason why you have said YES to the opportunity. If you are not able to comply, it is unfortunate, as it may potentially result to withdrawal of the offer.
Your kind support and co-operation is highly appreciated.
I look forward to continue working with you all in achieving your mobilization to occur in a shortest time as possible. I believe it is a collaboration between you and me, therefore working together harmoniously to provide solution, supporting one another, understanding and patience of certain situation will certainly result to good working partnership.
Good Luck!!!

I'm in similar position. my notice period is 3 months, and got saudi visa the 1 july, Aramco did actually apply for my visa prior getting all contingencies clearance. I just got the clearance on the 22 July. I haven't resigned yet as I'm on business trip, and did explain that to the recruiter that I need to be in the office face to face to resign, and not send an email from remote place. she told me no arrival delay will be approved for any reason (she planned for me to go on the 30th of september). I cant fulfill this date, and its really unfortunate the way they deal with our case. I believe she might come back and withdraw the offer.... we have been patient with the very long process with aramco. once the contingencies clearance are done, everything goes so fast, and aramco is not patient anymore !!!!!!!

Aramcodream,
My question to you is: What happens if you resign and leave before the three month period? What if they let you go?......would the company you currently work for give you a three notice period as well? My 2 cents, if only a "fine" is the "penalty" I'm pretty sure that you'll make up for that loss down the line; however, if you are looking at this opportunity and worrying about your current situation from a financial stand point only.......then possibly you are/were not ready for the opportunity you have been given. Now once again, this is my own take on the matter, resign and take up the Aramco opportunity.......you will be greatly enriched culturally, socially and financially.

Hi aramcodream, did you actually report the 3 months notice period in your application form? I did report "4 months negotiable" so I was totally honest; that was well before my interview so I can't see why this must become an issue just now! Anyway I understand the frustration and the fact that this is a "lifetime" opportunity, however as long as they are also correct with myself and eventually reconsider the offer BEFORE I resign then no problem - it'll mean it was not for me and the world is a big place full of opportunities

Hi, I have been offered a post (Engineer-II, CG-13) at Rastanura with work area as Northern Area Projects (PMT). Could you throw some light as to where would be the work location at Rastanura and what could be the possible assignments in PMT at Rastanura?
Sorry for the bother with silly questions for first timers like me. :

Hi all I am still waiting for negotiations results as I requested more salary. I am waiting since 1 month and the offer deadline was hold. So what could be the worst scenario ? Is it possible for them to withdraw the offer or just refuse the request and back to original offer ? And what about notice peroid. I mean I have 1 month notice period with current employer and 2 months with flat owner. So as soon as visa issued is that mean I should move the next ?? It will be really so tough if so Please share me with your experience in the above 2 concerns

Hi Mastei: I did specify 3 months notice period in my application, but I'm sure they didnt pay attention to it. the UK Recruiter told me to take all my vacation to fulfill the 30th of september. I do have negative balance with my current employer, and I explained that to the recruiter, but she doesn't seem to believe me !!!! the only advise I would give you is to not send your passport until you get your clearance, so you can work out later on that. and as you said, if they arent willing to consider me, it would mean it wasnt for me.... they have to be flexible. its not like i have asked to delay my relocation for another 6 months...
Hi Gym30: I would not worry for your case if you asked more money.... my friend in Aramco told me the reason why it might take longer is they need to get approval for VP, and get other signature in the mean time as well. VP might be busy, and now with ramadan make it even lengthy.from your profile, it look like we used to be in the same company you are working on:) you can pay off your flat owner for the remaining month I believe, and will be covered by the allowance.

Hi atamcodream Thanks for your feedback. In fact I would not requested more salary if they base my in dha. They base me in abq and work place in dha. So now I am worry that they wait for someone else to fill this position ad I heard that when aramco offer a candidate they offer many as backup???
Do you think this delay mean that they accept the salary rise request otherwise they should reply fast if they reject ?? ? isn't it ?
Thanks
