So I learned that the villas have an open patio. How big is it? We plan on bringing a gas grill and a sandbox for the kids, maybe a portable pool. Is there enough space for these?

I located Rakkah in Google maps and viewed the sattelite images. It appears that some of the villas have an oversized backyard with swimming pool! Can someone confirm this? These are villas located on the 1st row, to the east of the entrance. Thanks zsb!
Very spacious patio. All we need is some kind of covering, e.g. tent or large umbrella.

Hi vpainter, With the permision of the Housing Dept., would it be feasible to install a fence on the back patio? What are the limits of the property with respect to each housing? I am asking because we have a dog, a Golden Retriever, and not having a fenced space on the back to allow her to do her necesities... (always cleaning it up, of course ), well, it is going to be difficult. Since the houses do not have a gae, how many parking spots are supposed to be available per family, and where are they located? Thank You and Best Regards Katanga

I currently live in DHA on Bachelor status. I am in the process of converting to family status (my wife will join me at the start of next year). Housing told me that they had 100 villas in DLC available now and I could move immediately. I told them I would if a house with a pool was available. She said those houses were not available. I think I knew the answer before I asked the question, but had to ask.
That being said, I opted to get on a waitlist for DHA, as a yard and gae are important to me, and stay in my Bachelor housing while I wait. I am being told about 1 year. We'll see what happens.

For the homes in DLC, is there any space for a gas grill / BBQ? Is it acceptable to be in the outdoor space - back or there are restrictions on what you can put there?
Thanks,

Bosentang, ask to go visit the compound, I am sure you could get permission. The shuttles are running over there every hour. The pools there are very nice, the pools here are not in your backyard in bachelor housing.
Yegoiler, You can put your BBQ on the back patio.
Katanga, Aramco is wanting to accommodate the people living in Rakkah, definitely would be worth asking about fencing in an area around your patio.

Does anyone have the actual dimensions of the patio and balcony areas?

The block paved patio is 16 feet by 16 feet and beyond that it about 2 feet of sand with irrigation pipes in it - i plan to put pots there - and beyond that community grass. I don't know why you would want to put a fence up - It would restrict light coming into your house. You can see other people's patios but not really into the houses because of the full length net curtains. Some people have put high bourganvilea plants in pots around their patios which looks lovely and affords some privacy.

Do Rakkah houses have any stoe place where bikes and motorized toys like power wheels could be stored?
Also is there a ATM machine on compound? Where do people go for money exchange initially?
Thanks.

coffeecus,
I exchanged my USD for SR at the NCB in Al-Mujammah. Very easy. Just go to the cashier and exchange your money. You can do this without having a bank account.
The ATM in Rakkah is also NCB.
