I probably will be in one of the far compounds...
I was wondering if one can rent a car once arrive..and where to rent that?
Can you drive with a canadian Driving licence? before iqama?

Majestic Taxi Service rents cars at least in DHA. Friends who have rented only needed their Aramco ID. Since Majestic is also in RT and ABQ and UDH, the service may very well be there also. These compounds can use their golf carts to get around camp.
I do not know if you can drive these rentals off camp. I have heard differing answers from those who have rented.

I believe that you can even rent car from outside camp, isn't it ? And then u can use wherever you want ?

You can rent a car after you are holding KSA driver license and Iqama.
There are rent a car offices outside RT camp in a walking distance. Avee rate for Sedan is SAR 100, you could get less for longer rent, i.e 1 month you could negotiate SR 70 .. Do bargain before you make a deal.

regarding renting a car when you arrive , yes you can but you need to have an international driving license from your country ,as it happen with me and when I arrived to KSA I rented a car from the airport with my international driving license and passport and my home land credit card but because you dont have Iqama or KSA driving license then you need some company whom can cover you by insurance and accept the international driving license ,and I came to know when I arrived to KSA that all the international renting company will rent you a car with insurance if you have the international driving license and those companies many like Avis ,Hertz,,,etc hins go for any rent a car web site in your country and choose KSA you will be able to book a car online ,but when you arrive you need the I.D.L and one of the international rent a car companies whom accept the IDL and insure you ! best of luck

Otherwise, you come to the compound and call Majestic, they rent to Aramcons with their Aramco ID. Of course like any rental shop, they must have a car available. That number will be readily available once you are here.

I did a 90 day assignment in 2008 and rented a car from Majestic with my TX DL and my Aramco Services ID. Never got a straight answer as to whether I could drive off DHA camp but I did. Even got a pass to get the car through the gates. No issues other than learning to drive like a local :twisted:

You can rent it from Majestic but they wont deliver the car outside the DH compount. Clear instructions from personnel, that you shouldnt drive outside the camp until you get your iqama (they will explain it in the orientation). SO if you are outside DH camp then you will need someone to drive the car to your camp and then you can only drive within the camp until you get your Saudi driving license.
