So finally after a journey that started with an interview on Sept. 2012, all steps are done and I have a travel date....but wait ...some more surprises before you go. ...(self censored Part)
I also mentioned to my relocation advisor my intention to get married before leaving, she told me it will be better to proceed my file separately now, then when I go there...tell them.
Now that I have EVERYTHING ready to go, came another issue; no housing for single males in Dhahran...that is where I will be working, so i need to tell them if i would like to have a 700 sq ft in abqaiq...or a 400 sq ft in ras tanura...i am not sure i will be able to live in a 400 sq ft and commute 3 hours per day then try to convince myself I am having a better quality of life...that would definitely be a lie!
Adding to that...i still have absolutely no idea who I will be working with...or what exactly I will be trying to achieve...the job description for the role I was offered...I had to get online from their website after having received the offer.
what is really frustrating is ...this issue of housing was only raised after i received a confirmation to resign, so everything before that including my offer was saying Dhahran.
My question is...if I am getting married this week...can I receive family accomodations in Dhahran? I am not sure I would want to proceed if what I am offered comes with a 3 hours daily commuting and absolute mystery on what exactly is expected from me to be done at work.

I would take the 400 square foot in Ras Tanura. If you do, you are immediately eligible for bidding and moving into housing in Dhahran when something comes available. People are moving all the time so it probably would not be long but you would have to endure the commute until then. I do not know if you can change your status and get family housing so quickly in DH.

Hi there At least they initially offer you DHA. For me I have wife with 2 kids and they base me in abq while work place is DHA which is really annoying specially when compare it with my current next door office (5min walk as I live in downtown) so life quality issue like you. I am still not decided to accept the offer or not. 3 hrs is really too much. I wonder if accommodation can be on the table of negotiations?
I heard that you can only bid after 2 yrs. So will you commute 3 hrs a day for 2yrs ?

So did they change your housing location after the offer was submitted? Is that something which happens frequently?
