Hi,
Thanks to everyone on this forum. i have been reading some of the posts on here and have found them most helpful and have answered a lot of questions i had.
I have been offered the position of Pet Eng II and am expecting to arrive in late September. My family will be living in Ras Tanura and i will be working in Tanajib during the week. The offer states that i will be on restricted 5/2 schedule.
I have read on some posts that some employees elect to return home during the week for a night and return to Tanajib the following morning. I have also read that there are daily flights to Tanajib everyday. I guess my question is, am i allowed to return home during the working week or will i have to honor the restricted 5/2 work schedule? Am i allowed to fly home everyday and fly back the following morning since its a short flight?
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi all,
Just in case anyone is interested, i heard back from my relocation agent regarding the above question. i have been informed that flying to Tanajib from RT on a daily basis is not allowed.
Somehow i get the feeling that in reality this may not be the case...

A lot depends on your department and your work times.
It is about a 45-60min drive to the Aramco Dammam airport from RT, about 60-75min by bus (due to stops in Safwa).
There are daily flights from Dammam to Tanajib and back, however a lot of them go through Al Hasa which is in the wrong direction. If its a direct flight its only 30min by air to Tanajib, but if it goes through Al Hasa its 30min to Al Hassa, 10-15min on the ground, then 30min to Tanajib.
Once in Tanajib the camp is right next to the airport.
This means your travel time will be 1.5 - 2.5 hours each way. It is very difficult to do this regularly on top of a full work day. Some departments will work with you and allow you to either come in a bit late or leave a bit early some days to visit families, others will not. (A lot depends on the department and the work load).
Once in Tanajib you will have free lodging, free meals, free internet, free satellite TV, and you get paid a 'remote allowance' so its quite a bit more money for most people. On the downside you're away from home quite a bit.

Hi,
I currently work in Tanajib Sun-Thurs and spend the weekends in RT and I have never heard of anyone flying back and forth everyday.
Firstly the flight schedules are not set up for this. Also in Tanajib the usual work hours are 6 to 6, so you literally don't have time to travel each day. I think it is impossible unless you are a pilot who is flying this route and even then you would probably have to spend the odd night in Tanajib.
Anyways don't worry, working in Tanajib is absolutely excellent. I would recommend it to anyone. The weeks absolutely fly by and the facilities here are first class. If you come with an open mind and a flexible approach you will love it and realise by working in Tanajib and living in RT at the weekends you have the best of both worlds.
