Not sure why you were led to believe that all kids go to school in Dhahran. That's definitely not the case. Saudi Aramco Schools has schools in Abqaiq, Dhahran, Ras Tanura, and Udhailiyah.

According to the info I got from people involved in the pre-K program in Dhahran, all the company compounds except Dhahran have K3 and K4. Dhahran has only K4.
As others have mentioned, the problem in Dhahran is lack of classroom space. As soon as they can find space for it, they will start a K3 in Dhahran but there is no indication of when that will be.

Revive,
There is projected to be preK 3 in Dhahran in the coming school year. A new building is being built at the moment for the PreK program. This past year, DHA was the only compound without preK 3 due to lack of space.

Vpainter, Thanks for the info. I assume that's for the 2014-15 academic year, not 2013-14. Is that correct?

Correcting my post: It has been delayed until the 2014 - 2015 school year, spoke with someone today.

That means, if the building is finished on time, they will start next month! My will be very excited to hear this.

I live in Udhailiyah. My daughter just finished K3, and my next daughter will go to K3 in September.
When I went to the K3 parent info night, the principal said they are hoping to start K3 in Dhahran for this coming year. They didn't have the space for it.
The Aramco K3 preschool is really good. I highly recommend it over in-home preschools.
I haven't heard anything about them starting K2.

so it is not covered in free school that Aramco offers or for Aramco employees?
Also is there a way to apply for space in advance?
and i was reading school handbook for my 7 year old. Are they very strict about vacations/taking time off from school as mentioned in the handbook?

Yes, as most schools are.
