I am currently in the offer stage where my paystub has been provided and awaiting final offer of base salary and other benefits. I am going to coming on family status (a party of 4). My question are as follows:
1) Do I need two cars-one for me to get to work and back and the other for my family to go to schools and run domestic related errands
2) What would be advisable - bring the cars from the US and pay the transportation fees between 3K to 4K or buy in Saudi

Some families have one car and the wife takes the husband to work or he rides the bus to work. Some families have two cars. It will depend on what you as a family want.
Those who have shipped their car/SUV have liked that they did. I do not know anyone who has ever shipped two vehicles. You would definitely have to check with the Saudi Embassy to see if you could do so.
Your vehicle must be under 5 years old and have a clear le.

As VP said, in order to ship you car it must be within 5 years old and be completely paid off.
Aramco provides buses which routinely run around camp, from camp to camp, and even to the malls/shopping centers. Taxis are cheap (compared to the US). A car is handy, but it is by no means a 'must have'. We've been here 2 years, and the only times we rented cars were to go to Bahrain. We finally decided to ship from the US this spring after buying a car in cash on our last repat.
If you have a car which meets the criteria, shipping is a good option. Its easy to buy cars here, but there are no lemon laws, no car fax, etc. Its pretty much buyer beware. For us, we were able to get a 2011 Honda Pilot in the US and ship it here for cheaper than it would have cost to buy the same car here.
Good luck!

Small upgrade: Saudi authorities allow importing ONE car only per year.
