I had a phone interview and now am scheduled for a video conference interview.
My passport is expired. Will this affect any potential job offers, such as someone else being picked based on passport only? Would it be best to send in right now for renewal? Or wait until there is an offer?
I am from the US and don't know if a valid passport is necessary for a job offer.

You do not need it to get the job offer, but will need it if you accept the offer. If you think you would come if you received an offer, get it sent in so you can get it back. It takes time if there is not a rush on it.

Just to add, Aramco does pay for Passport renewal fee. If you renew your passport urgently, you can get it within a week (they say 3 weeks, but it took me and my family 5 days).

Just to ease your mind a little more. My husbands passport was expired when he went to interview with Aramco. After his interview we applied for his passport and our kids as well. Aramco made us an offer within a few weeks and we just sent a copy of the passports to Aramco upon receiving them. We did not expedite the process and it took a total of three weeks from the time we submitted the paperwork to get the passports.
Good luck!
