Hi, I'm new on Dhahran, and would like to know if/where the Honda scooter dealer is? I'm a female, so I need to take a taxi. Thanks!

Majestic taxi drivers will know where the dealer is located. Tell the dispatcher to send you someone who knows where it is located. Once the driver picks you up, ask him if he knows where the Honda scooter dealer is, if he doesn't ask him to call into his office, the managers there do know and will give him directions.

and when you get there, Anas is the guy you want to talk to. He will arrange for the delivery of your scooter to camp. I have several of his business cards if you want to PM me.

Hi All
I saw this thread and was wondering do the ladies feel it is helpful for a woman to have a scooter or car on camp, for the daily commute and grocery shopping, and I was wondering what a new scooter would roughly cost.
Many thanks

I can't speak to the ladies' feelings of usefulness of scooter on camp, but I can give you a pricing idea. On the Honda Elite 125, manufactured in China, a brand new one in October of 2012 cost 5000 SR and 200SR for delivery.
You can find used ones on camp occasionally for less. Suzukis are also popular but I dont know their pricing. However, if you buy a new Suzuki they make you register it and get a license etc. and for some reason the Honda folks don't make you mess with that, as long as you promise not to ever take it off camp...not that you would want to (or be able to for now as a woman) because it is NUTS out there...completely unsafe....

My recollection is that you simply have to provide your original iqama. You might give them a call to verify that. Their number is 3-847-3000.

Wheels of Arabia (Bahrain) is west of the Jannusan roundabout on the budaiya highway near avenue 54 and the Harley Davidson shop (26.219685,50.496002). Enter the coordinates direct into google. Location will come up. They have Vespa, piaggio – the lot. But expensive! 9000 to 12000 SAR for base models. Apparently, no drama at all to bring into Saudi Arabia. You can google their website.
There is another Wheels outlet in Dhahran on the eastern side of King Saud Road, opposite Dhahran mall and south west from Abdul Latif Jamil Toyota dealership. However it won’t be open until Oct 2014.
Honda dealer : Main Dealership on King Fahd road, opposite the Novotel, East of the Dammam Train Station (26.406561, 50.137087). They have ok scooters from 5000SAR.
Suzuki Dealer : Saleh barayaan & sons. Location is next to the Al Jomaih Cadillac dealership on King Fahd Road, south of the Nadha Club (26.352296, 50.191131). Like Kawasaki, they are more trail bikes than scooters so your call.
Wikimapia says there is a shop in khobar at 6th and Mohammad (26.286151,50.214778), but not that I could find…
