Emails have been sent to employees and to parents at the schools, advising to take precaution by washing hands, etc., the usual health recommendations regarding viruses.

Does this pose any health risk for new arrivals? Which offices are affected by the infection?

I have not heard of it being a a specific issue at offices. It's a regional alert to take precautions with hygiene. There are many articles about this health topic at www.arabnews.com.

I would hope that the schools can cut short this semester due to the virus.

The KSA cases are in Al Hofuf, however, the numbers published date back to early 2012 and only 17 cases confirmed worldwide. The cases are in the UK, Germany, Jordan and KSA. Last week there was a report that health care people involved with the SARS investigation are working together on the new strain.

There has been no sign of this virus spreading outside a couple of specific settings yet. Up till now, no Aramco facilities or community areas seem to have been affected. According to the World Health Organization (WHO):
