Hi
We just moved to DHA 4 weeks ago and got our first cheque. Just wanted to ask that is there any bank that doesn't require 45 days to clear a Canadian cheque. My husband has checked with NBC, Franci and Samba they all need 45 days. Has anyone dealt with HSBC or any other bank? or everyone has to wait for this many a days when they receive a cheque.
would really appreciate your feedback.
thanks

I'm just wondering why you are getting paid by cheque. Most people I know get paid by direct deposit as they find it more convenient.
Setting up a direct deposit is relatively easy and can be done either online from the myhome corporate portal or by submitting a form.

GW, there's a good chance that it's a one-time issue for them, being the first paycheck. From our experience, and from what others have reported, it is not unusual for the first pay to be issued by check if there are snafus with the direct deposit paperwork and it perhaps needing to be resubmitted from scratch. More new arrival hassles.
Sorry I don't have an answer about the original question. I hope someone can answer. But when you mean "to clear a Canadian cheque," are you referring to the Saudi Aramco payroll check being cashed by a Canadian bank, or am I misunderstanding the question?

You are right it is the first pay check from Aramco. It is issued by Aramco, from HSBC Canada in Canadian dollars...(if that makes any sense) but I did find out yesterday that there is no HSBC in the kingdom according to the person on the phone. Only the investment branches which deal with stokes and equities...so No HSBC however SAAB I believe is linked with them if anyone is wondering. From my research every bank requires 50 working days if its in another currency.
