Dear All Can I please kindly ask you what is the structure of the UK Payroll Structure ? I would like to know if the UK Payroll content will depend on nationality, or if its similar for all people under this payroll. I'm asking this as my recruiter representative told me she will put me on different point of repatriation. Thanks a lot for your help in advance

If you're asking what I think you're asking, the answer is that the conditions for all people on the UK payroll are pretty much the same. About the only difference that I'm aware of is that some people recruited directly from other countries which use a different currency, such as Australia, can choose to opt in to an exchange rate protection mechanism to mitigate the effects of currency fluctuations.

Hi GroveWanderer, You did understand perfectly my question, and I was really looking forward the answer to this question. I really thought that my recruiter, even thought told me that I'm on UK Payroll, will give me different package than the british people as I dont hold the passport yet. I thought that some of the item in the UK Payroll will be missed, or reduced. when we are in the UK Payroll, does it mean we receive our salary in USD, then converted to GBP ? or its paid directly into GBP Account no matter the fluctuation rate ? I'm still waiting for the offer. Have a nice day

The payroll code determines what currency you are paid in. In fact, although people tend to refer to them by nationality (UK, US/C, AOA etc) the payrolls are actually designated according to currency. It is actually Pound Sterling payroll, US/Canadian Dollar payroll, Saudi Riyal payroll, Euro payroll etc.
So your salary will be set in GBP and the base salary does not change based on any exchange rate fluctuation although there have been occasional changes in the overbase component if the exchange rate has moved beyond certain parameters.
However, the rental deduction amount was recently changed to Saudi Riyals so that does vary in relation to the exchange rate.
Based on my reading of the Pound Sterling payroll IR Manual there is no differentiation between different nationalities on this payroll, other than the currency protection scheme I mentioned earlier.
Also, if you choose to live off camp and take the Rental Assistance allowance, that is also currency protected.

Would anyone know how the currency fluctuations affect the Canadian payroll when paid in Saudi riyals (into a local bank account)? For the US payroll, the exchange rate it pretty much fixed (1 $ = 3.754 SR) but the Canadian dollar fluctuates quite a bit. Does that mean payroll deposited for each month in Saudi riyals will be different? Or is a constant rate used for say the whole year?

Yes, if you get part of your pay deposited into a local account in riyals, the rate will fluctuate. Each pay statement you get will state what exchange rate was used for the conversion. The company fixes exchange rates every so often. I'm not sure exactly what the frequency is, I know they don't change the rates every day but I think it's at least once a month.

The currency rate is set on the 1st of every month.
