Hi all.. I was interviewed for a civil engineer position in the NAOO division.... The guy asked me if I am ok with workin on a remote location... For some reason I told him it is ok.. I was more focused on the interview and didn't pay much attention to this point.. As I understood from him that this will require working for 5 days in camp and then flying back home to the residence.
This situation will be very hard on me... We got a strong family relations and this will be really tough on us especially with a new location and a wife that will not be able to manage her stuff alone.
My question is: if i was offered a remote location, will it be a permenant location ? Sis it possible to be for a temp period and then be able to move to a location where i can return home by end of the day? I dont have a problem to commute everyday for a long period if this will help.
I am asking for your advice aramcons.
Thanks all for your support.

It is perfectly possible that your work in a remote location would be not be permanent but it could still be for quite a while. I have known people who have worked in remote locations for a couple of years and others who only had to spend a period of months working in a remote area before going back to a work location closer to their family residence.
It should be something you could enquire about though you may not get a definitive answer at this stage.

You have mentioned NAOO. I think it stands for Northern Area Oil Operations and all their plant sites are in remote (non-family) areas. Your family will probably stay in Ras Tanura and you will come home for 2 days/3 nights. Honestly I do not think you can realistically expect to be released or moved to a family station for at least 5 years.

Current Aramco policy is you need to have been in your job for 4 years before you can apply for others (different if they want to move you) Even after the 4 years, they may not let you go - but they can only stop you once, so you can reapply again
