Hi all, Need some input regarding taxes. This is our first year here and was wondering what others have experienced. I was told by pwc that we get an automatic extension to file by June. I have filled out the online forms but so far no response from them.

With it being the first year you are filing with them, be prepared for it to take a while. They actually extended us twice our first year, extending us til December. After much complaining to PWC about that, we were informed it was because it was our first year filing with them...I know, totally lame excuse. The next year, we filed right on time, even though we had the June extension again. This year with the online option, we were about to file and receive our refund by March. There's hope. Hang in there.

I am not sure if you are on US payroll or not, but I am going to use my context clues and say yes (Coltsfan). All US contractors working overseas automatically receive an extension to file, you do not need to submit anything until June 15. When to File If you are a U.S. citizen or resident alien residing overseas, or are in the military on duty outside the U.S., on the regular due date of your return, you are allowed an automatic 2-month extension to file your return and pay any amount due without requesting an extension. For a calendar year return, the automatic 2-month extension is to June 15. If you are unable to file your return by the automatic 2-month extension date, you can request an additional extension to October 15 by filing Form 4868 before the automatic 2-month extension date. However, any tax due payments made after June 15 will be subject to both interest charges and failure to pay penalties. www.irs.gov/Individuals/International-Taxpayers/U.S.-Citizens-and-Resident-Aliens-Abroad
