I just read this news. This sounds both productive and intersting. The proposed change will shift the current two-day weekend from Thurs-Fri to Fri-Sat. It is in the recommendation stage and plans to obtain the Saudi government's approval are underway. I am glad to see the Kingdom progress in terms of aligning its productive workforce time and efficiency with the West.
I predict this change will help us expats-to-be espicially in terms of communicating back home once we make the move to Saudi.

Wow! that is very positive and also it will be good for the expats to take care of bank related dealings over the phone. 4 days is always better then 3.

it is a recommendation subject to further approvals. CNBC and Google News reported accurately. it will be a welcomed change, if/when the recommendation becomes law.

I am enclined to think this will go through and get approved. All other GCC countries ratified Fri-Sat change, including Oman recently. There are HUGE economic benefits to do it. And above all, If you follow Saudi politics, King Abdullah has been slowly but surely pushing for reforms that makes sense. This is no exception.

All the Saudis I have spoken to, fully expect this to come to fruition.
I was told some time ago that all the company's SAP systems were already coded to be able to handle the change, if and when it comes.
