Good Day All I've searched the forum and read the posts that I could find on this subject however I'm still confused. My questions are as follows: 1) Do you need a PAL to to NTSC converter for LCD / LED TV's brought from the US? 2) Has anyone purchased a TV in Dhahran, if so what are the prices for say a 32" or 37" LCD / LED? 3) After reading several posts it appears there is no set cable / internet combination that is optimal. Are most people using there laptops and streaming video thru the internet? 4) Anyone using an Apple TV brought from the US?
I'm just trying to decide if I buy something over there or bring something from home and use a converter. I appreciate any help you could throw my way. We will be in Dhahran but not sure if we are living in the hills or main camp. Many Thanks Ben

1). Some people say they need a converter box, others have said they do not. So do not know what to tell you. We just bought a multi system TV here: NTSC and PAL compatible. 2) do not know. 3) some do use their computers/laptops and stream TV with a VPN. Some have Apple TV. some purchase multiple Satellite TV service: OSN, Star World, etc. some use a slingboxes they have set up in a family member's or friend's home. 4). Yes, Apple TV is used here.

You can buy a decent sized brand-recognizable TV for less than SR 2,000, and of course for greater quality and features, they price upwards. You find them for sale all over the place, every day at hypermarkets, home appliance stores, etc. There is no shortage of types and sizes of TVs, in price ranges to fit all budgets. Same for DVD players for this region. The biggest hassle about buying a TV here is finding a way to get it home, especially as a new arrival. If you're taking shopper's buses or renting a typical Yaris from Majestic and have kids in the back seat, it could be challenging. Some places have delivery, but it's not always immediate.

If you take a Majestic taxi and possibly Samara taxi, tell them you need the suburban. It costs a bit more, but comes in handy when picking up bulky items or large items and kids.

In my experience, most of the bigger stores will deliver larger items to your home (at no extra cost, IIRC).
Extra (one of the larger consumer electronics stores) certainly does home delivery.

I made the decision to buy a 32" multisystem (with tuner) TV before I leave Houston. Wasn't exactly cheap compared to the local offerings but figured it would be cheaper and less of a hassle than buying KSA.
