IF you decide to use a Saudi bank account:
instead of wiring money Internationally (which is cheap on the Saudi end - not US in my case), you can get a bank draft.
NCB, for example, will cut you a check against your account for something like 7 SAR from any one of three major US banks e.g. Bank of America.
Take that check, and scan it into your US account with your mobile banking app.
In my case, USAA funds clear instantly, with no fees.
Wiring was costing me $30-50 USD because an intermediary bank was involved on the US side; USAA uses Bank of Mellon NYC.
NCB charged me 17 SAR for wiring.

Even cheaper split your direct deposit between your KSA account and your U.S. account. No fees.

At least on the UK payroll, you can change your salary allocation any time you want (maximum of one change per month). I believe other payrolls are the same.

You have to set it up after you arrive, since you cannot open a local bank account until you are here.

And if ASC had you fill out a form that authorizes Aramco to set up a local bank account on your behalf, do not assume that anything at all has happened with that. Same holds true for direct deposit setup to your home bank. Double-check everything when you arrive, and be prepared to resubmit the direct deposit form with voided check to HR, and to set up a local bank account (at the bank of your choice and convenience) after you arrive.
