Hi. My husband will be joining Aramco soon. We are in the Visa Application part of the process with the medicals. We are South African's on the Pound Sterling Payroll. Would we all go at the same time or after the 3 mnts prob period? What type of housing does Aramco set up for employers in Riyadh ? I know that there are no Aramco compounds in Riyadh. We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children. How soon after visa applications would we be given the go ahead to give notice to employer here. Lastly, we have been homeschooling for over 6 years now and would like to know, what Aramco's policy on homeschoolers. And if the schools their would accept my children into the appropriate grades.
Thanks
Zakeera

They do not necessarily publicize the fact you can homeschool, but you can. Being in Riyadh your kids will not be in an Aramco school. There will be other schools there, we cannot say if they would place your kids in their grade.
You would have been told in your offer if your husband had to come prior to the family. If you are all in the visa stage, then sounds like you are all going together.

Aramco expats live in housing compounds in Riyadh. I am currently living and working in Riyadh. I am living in a compound called Arabian Homes, but am here without my family at this time. You can look up Arabian Homes on internet and get some limited pictures of the compound.

Hi vpainter,
Can you clarify a little bit that the if the family departs separately, than this should be written on the offer. Normally my offer do not have any reference on this issue (I mean either I will fly with my wife or not), but some other general documents (like relocation guide) writes that, the visa application for spouse will start after probationary period.
I also have other issue, assume that I depart on August, then until November, it will be my probationary period, and there is the religious holiday in (I think September or October) in KSA and it gives about 5-10 days public holiday. Then, as being a worker on prob. perios, will I be able to leave the country for the public holiday (of course paying the costs myself)
Best regards Best regards,

Your offer should state whether or not you have family status. Your recruiter will be able to tell you if your family can come with you when you come or if you must first complete your probationary period prior to their coming.
Once you have arrived and have gotten your iqama and resident visa, you would be able to leave the country any time you have off at your expense.

Hi All,
I've just been offered a position in Riyadh at the ARAMCO ITC. Is there anyone who works there at the moment that can provide me with more information?
Thanks,
Abdullah

What information that is available about Riyadh is on the forum. Do a search on Riyadh and read the posts. I personally do not have any info on Riyadh.

If you have facebook, there are lots of groups on facebook with expats living in Riyadh....just type riyadh in the search bar and you'll find tons of groups. Riyadh is a big city, so I'm sure experiences vary, especially between those living in compounds, which compound, and those living outside compounds. I am not sure if Aramco guarantees housing in a compound or which compound or if they offer a housing allowance instead or if you get a choice. Your husband should ask at work for more information about that.

I recently accepted an offer in Riyadh (Family Status). Where will your spouse work? At the Riyadh refinery I assume? If so, there are lots of options. I can tell you that if you have kids you'll want to consider Al Bustan because the new American International School in onsite. It's pretty far from the refinery, however, it's worth it to me.

Dimk, Once you have your iqama and resident visa, you can leave even during your probationary period.
