For those of you who, like me, checked the box that it was not OK to contact your current employer, I thought I'd share some comforting news: My BI checker contacted me and gave me 3 options to confirm employment, any two of which were sufficient: [*]send a casual email to the BI checker from your work email address.[/*] [*]provide first and most recent pay stubs. [/*] [*]provide 3 contacts (name, email, phone) who can verify that you have and do work at your current employer[/*] [/list:o] She said that they would not mislead anyone during the check, so the contacts should be people that you're OK knowing that you're leaving (i.e., not your boss, or this would have been a non-issue). You'll get cc'ed on the email correspondence. I started with options 1 and 3, but had given 3 people from work. She didn't contact them, but rather checked with me first. Given that I have no friends, I opted for 1 and 2.

o CP
How long did you wait between interview and offer? Also, just curious, what role are you interviewing for? (Generally, engineering, finance, it?)

Hi CheeseyPouf, I own my own consulting company and was some what nervous about this same thing. I basically provided m=names of 5 different customers who could verify that I in fact did own and operate my own company. These BI investigators are very good at what they do. They contacted all 5 and there were no problems. I had already mentioned to them that I was considering going overseas so they were sad to lose me as a consultant but happy for the opportunity that was placed before me. I think if you let the people that you are thinking about going overseas and then pas on their names you will be just fine.
Thanks Ben

Ben, The BI checker told me they could even be friends, so there are many options there. We are still holding the move very close to the vest (although we've started to tell a few people outside of our parents and siblings, the total number is still less than 15 or so), so we opted for the non-contact option, but I can see how that one would be easy.
mi, I'm going over for an engineering position. I interviewed in early December, and received the formal offer in late January. As I've said elsewhere in the forum, I was told in August (by my likely supervisor) that Aramco was planning to interview me, which was scheduled in November, and took place in December. Now, we wait to hear whether my background is acceptable (and I'm thankful that I'm too crotchety to have taken up Facebook). Our stuff is currently scheduled to move out on June 20; I really hope that we are around that time, too...
