Hi readers,
I promised I'd update the forum regarding our DH wait list request for installation of 220v plugs in our home. Several months ago, I called to request a plug for our kitchen, since that's what everyone advised was the way to go. I was told the program was on hold indefinitely and they put us on a wait list that was 100 deep at the time. Out of the blue last week, we were notified that electricians would be spending the day in our home, installing 220 plugs in four pre-determined locations in our home. Indeed, we now have 220 outlets in four areas of our 3 BR townhouse. A set of double plugs were installed in the kitchen, dining room, front breakfast room, and upstairs hallway. The wires were affixed inside white plastic conduit along the outside of the walls and ceilings. Not the most attractive look, but I've painted them to camouflauge somewhat. At least now we can use some 220 appliances in our home. Looking forward to getting a new vacuum cleaner for those fuzzy carpets upstairs...

Hi hadia, Thanks for the update. I'm glad it's finally sorted for you.
I've put a request in, but I still have no clue what's / when it's going to happen. I can never seem to get hold of housing and dont know who else to check with. We're still living with minimal appliances!
Just patience I guess...

Check on the classifieds - every time I've looked since they came back online, there were a bunch of 110V appliances.

I had 220V outlets in my house when I moved in (July 2012), but they were not energized. I called a month after move in to request it and was put on the waiting list. They came and energized the outlets a month or two ago. Same thing happened for one of my colleagues. Good to see progress.

Thank you!
Hopefully they'll get around to this in RT this year...

I've been watching it like a hawk, but there's not so much up there. On the rare occassion that something turns up, it'll be gone in a flash. A number of times I called up within 5 minutes of being published, they are already gone. Those appliances are rare commodities.
