I recently bought a car here from a dealer in Khobar. Though it is a model that is common in the US (Hyundai Tuscon), it does not have the same safety equipment. Namely:
1) Only ONE airbag for driver. No side airbags, passenger airbags, curtain airbags like US model
2) ABS only. No traction control like US spec car.
If you are coming from the US, this may be a reason to import your car. I have not checked a lot of different models, but apparently safety equipment for local-market cars is much less than US spec cars.
