o all! This is my first post and I have been lurking for a few weeks now. My husband was contacted by Aramco a few weeks back for a possible job opportunity. Since reading many of the post in the timeline topics I've noticed that there are a few of you who have received recent offers and the job you applied for was a different job le that you were offered. So my question would be is this a common practice for Aramco and if so how have some of you handled this situation if this is happened to you? My husband has an interview in Houston in a few weeks and we just want to be as informed as possible.
Thanks in advance! We are looking forward to this possible new journey.

CG, I was one of the many who experienced the "jumping job le" dance. It appears that Aramco does this quite often. It seems that as different departments review the candidates qualifications, they look for a "best fit" and changes happen to meet the changing priorities of the company and other candidates.
My experience was that I applied for a number of positions, was initially contacted about coming in for an interview for one of them, yet the position I actually was interviewed for was different. After the interview, I was made an offer for something completely different yet again (different le, different location). In all cases, I asked the recruiter to provide a job description which they did. Once the offer is made, the position appears to solidify.
I would tell your husband not to worry too much as the recruiter told me that the general job categories are quite broad and cover a number of "functional" job les. As long as he remains confident that he can perform the stated roles and responsibilities stated in the job descriptions, he should be good to go. Like the game musical chairs, as long as he stays nimble and does not get too caught up in the music and focuses on sitting straight and proud in the chair when the music stops, it's all good

Thanks so much trainingProf. We just want to be as informed as we possible with all of this uncharted territory.
Are you in KSA now? If so how was your experience with the hiring and move?

Not yet. If you look for "timeline" in the "New hires and Jobs" group you will find most of the recent posts of others (like me) who are in the process of getting there. We are tending to follow the same format to make it easier for others to follow so if you want to join the fun, just copy and paste one of the common pattern posts and change the dates to match your husband's. This way we can watch him watching us 8)

TrainingProf I realized that you were still in the hiring process after I wrote the last response. I see you will be doing your orientation on the 15th. Good luck. My husband will also be there on that day for his interview.

Thank you! Maybe we will cross paths. If he is there for an interview, that is an excellent sign that he is on the short list. It appears that getting that far is the hardest part (it was for me) and most of the people that have posted who have jumped that hurtle seem to have gone all the way...eventually.
