I have read some talk in past years about purchasing an automatic gae door opener for future homes in Dhahran. What are experienced and new hires experience with this? Should I expect a gae door opener in our new home or should I buy one for the shipment? If we need to purchase one, what is the best make model to be compatible with the homes in Dhahran. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Gae door openers do not come on Aramco homes. You should bring one with you if you want one. A single door gae door opener with an outside keypad also for entry is helpful. Any brand that will open a single gae door would be fine.

Are they available locally? or the quality is not that good so, it's better to buy them from the States?

You CAN find them here, but they are so much more expensive. Bring from the US.

Where can we purchase one in Dhahran? And is it difficult to install?

At the Sears store (Zain??), someone can correct me. I saw some there for 1500SR.

I regret that we didn't know about the need for electric gae door openers when we first came to KSA. Even though our gae was converted to a playroom and is not used for auto stoe, we could definitely benefit from an opener for access to the bikes. The manual doors are heavy and come down hard and fast for little ones. Had we known, I surely would have brought one and had it installed before we had our gae converted over. Now, access to the overhead door tracks is partially blocked by the conversion. I cringe whenever I hear that door slam down to the ground...

I'm not a handyman myself. But per the presenter in our orientation, you can hire people to install it for you. Perhaps Hadia can confirm.

Yes, it's easy to hire a carpenter in the camp. Perhaps someone here who had it done can recommend the process.
