Doing research in the states while waiting for BI & Medical, I discovered that my bank, Wells Fargo, will charge a 3% transaction fee, along with an ATM fee and a conversion rate on any purchases made in KSA using my debit / credit card. This is OK when your on vacation in a different country but could really add up living in another country. My question is does anyone know of a Bank in the states that has accounts that are geared more fee friendly for expats. Any advise is appreciated Thanks Ben

BOA does the same type of fees. We quit using our ATM cards and instead brought checks from our account. You can write a USD check for up to $2000/week. Then we deal in cash when we shop.

Did a little more research on this subject. Citi bank offers the Citi Executive Global Account. It has no transaction fees for ATM or Credit card. New snag, when I looked online I did not see any Citi banks in KSA only UAE. Can someone verify if Citi bank is or isn't in KSA.
Thanks Ben

I do know Citibank operates out of Bahrain (my parents have an accountant them) but not so sure about Saudi Arabia. There are probably still fees associated with using other bank's ATMs ongoing. Of currency conversion fees so best to find these out prior to opening the accounts

For aussies, I can highly recommend the Aussie 28 Degrees Mastercard. Probably some variant in the states (it's GE Finance). No annual fee, no transaction or withdraw fees, no conversion fees. Nothing. I took out 1000SAR from the ATM on Sept 30, and saw AUD286.96 on my statement. The money market rate was 3.487 that date, whereas 28 degrees gave me 3.484. Not even a commission. Sweet deal. www.28degreescard.com.au/credit-card-features/interest-rates-fees.html
