Hi,
I've just moved to RT, I used to climb quite regularly in the UK and would love to continue if possible.
Does anyone climb here still? The previous posts are pretty old, but thought it was worth a try

The schools have a climbing wall. I do not know if everyone is allowed to use the wall.
Also the Boy Scouts do Rock Climbing. You can find their contact information on the self directed group list that was in your home upon arrival.
If RT does not have a group, I think DHA does. You can also find their contact phone numbers at the CIC office in DHA or call them.

Hi Simon We have a nice little wall at RT; it is brand new, built in october 2012. It is located in the ras tanura Middle School. For the moment, climbing there is only restricted to adults who are enrolled in a rockclimbing course, or to students of the Middle School. I am one of the two certified instructors who run the rockclimbing courses. You can drop by to have a look at the wall and try it on monday / wednesday from 6 to 8 PM during classes. If you plan to climb regularly, at the moment the only option is to enroll in a course even if you are an experienced climber. We are now trying to establish a Self Directed Group which will give more freedom to access the wall to members of the group. We just completed all the forms, and submitted the application to recreation. This is not at all a formality. In Dhahran, the Self Directed Group was not approved by recreation. There are walls and (small) climbing communities in RT, ABQ, UDH, and DH.
Hope to see you there.

This is really great news! I'm due to fly out to Saudi before the end of the year and will be based in Dhahran (had my visa medical yesterday and handed over my passport). I've really enjoyed doing bouldering in London and really wanted to keep up with climbing! Enjoy cycling as well and would love to try sailing - really excited to try everything that is on offer!
