Hi,
I am a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist working in the UK. I have a video conference interview on Wednesday 6/2/13. Any doctors out there who can help me prepare for this interview? Your experience would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have interviewed for a physician position and am in the process of getting my visa, everything else has cleared. I can tell you that the interview is a "technical" interview, i.e they give you certain cases and ask how you would handle them, and occasionally try to throw in a wrench like what you would do if you want to, for example , admit a pt and then you get resistance from the internist, etc. They want to know that you have actual working/practical knowledge of your specialty and want to see how you would work with others.
'It is nothing you would have to study for, it would be like a relaxed/casual oral exam . Just be yourself .
I had my interview in person in the US, it was in a small room/booth at a conference exhibit hall; three physicians sitting around a table.
good luck, you can PM me if you have further questions about SAMSO.

Hi
Many thanks for your reply. I had a video conference interview 2 weeks ago. The interview was relatively informal. There was a 3 member panel and they primarily asked about my experience to date and plans for the future.
I heard from the Aramco overseas agent today who said that the department has decided to put my application "on hold"!
Do you know what that means? I still have a year to finish my training and obtain my CCST (certificate of completion of specialist training). We discussed this in the interview.
Your guidance is much appreciated.

Abueesa: I do not now what they mean by "on hold"; it is possible that they are ging to see if they can interview other people who already have their certification completed ; they may also want to wait to re-evaluate your situation and their needs after your certification is done. As mentioned in other places in the forum; I would'y give up on it. Many people who have been put on hold have been contacted later by Aramco, and end up with an offer.
I do know that the BI process is more intensive for physicians in particular, in one case it took almost 2 years to get physician in kingdom from after the interview date (rare exception), 6 months for BI alone is not unheard of for physicians. They often have to check with every hospital you have worked at or verify every rotation you have done. In your case, if they are hiring you for a certain specialty, it might be difficult going through the process and getting the Visa approved if they don't have the certificate showing completion of the specialty training for which you are being hired. All you certificates have to be attested, etc, and the Saud Medical Board has to do their their own approval after you get there.
Hope that helps, good luck

I interviewed for Psychiatrist post at a convention on October 14th 2013 (they flew me out to Seattle from Houston for a 30 minute interview). At the end of the interview I was told that they preferred Arabic speaking Psychiatrist but I still had a chance. Got email on October 22nd: "Hey Doc – what a pleasure it was meeting you at ACEP in Seattle. The team enjoyed your conversation as well. They are asking for me to put you on “Hold” status until Johns Hopkins comes in and begins to influence our management team after the first of the year. We know it is impossible to pour life on hold so we support any decision you and your family make but if there is still interest, please give me an email middle of December and I hope to have a much clearer insight then"
Not sure what to make of it but will wait patiently and check back in December

Well, I had my interview in Houston for a "consultant" position within my dental specialty on September 16th. Two weeks later i received an email from the recruiter telling me that I was recommended for the position and an offer, but there is "a catch". The offer can not be sent before the new joint venture of John Hopkins/Aramco starts managing the hospital in January, which is fine by me. But here are some things I'm hearing in which I have verified the first two points as facts, but the remaining points are just rumors at this time: 1) the new venture is jointly owned by John Hopkins and Aramco (fact). 2) the new venture is the employing eny, not Aramco (fact). 3) the new venture will be more financially conscious when it comes to spending than Aramco. 4) that may affect salaried and benefits offered for new hires. 5) they may have their own payroll lacking the benefits of Aramco US payroll benefits. 6) employees of the new venture may be offered housing outside the Aramco camp and they may not be eligible for some benefits exclusively offered to Aramco employees such as the free Aramco school system for dependent children. I'm patiently waiting for the offer, but if it turns out all points above are facts then it may not be worth it for me to leave the lovely Pacific Northwest and live in the desert if I don't get the same treatment and ALL benefits as other Aramco employees! Not to mention if the new venture will offer comparable total income to what SAMSO paid their doctors before this venture! So let's wait and see what happens PS: If anyone hear anything regarding these issues, please post here.
