I originally planned to get a new TV from Canada, but decided to cancel the plan when I confirmed that all TVs sold here are NTSC not PAL. You can get a better TV for the same budget when you buy it from here, but then you will need to buy a converter for the signal in SA, and you will also have no warranty. A side note.. Samsung Series 9 TVs are top of the line, smart TV with nice features. If you buy it from here it will be NTSC, if you buy it from SA it will be All System (it will work on PAl and NTSC.. so you can use it anywhere. As for voltage if you buy from Canad its going to be 110 V only most likely. If you get it from SA its going to be 110V and 220V works on both. It will be more money. You can compare the online stores prices in SA to those from Best buy

I agree with what CanPeng has said above. Ideally, multisystem TV and DVD players are the way to go.
If you need to buy a TV, do it in Saudi Arabia.
However, one thing to keep in mind is that if you have spent a lot of money on your existing TV and don't want to take the financial hit of selling it in Canada, one option is to buy a PAL to NTSC converter. I've seen them at places like TigerDirect.ca. The good ones, that handle high definition TV cost about $200 although I've seen cheaper ones advertised for around $50-$80. Again, this only makes sense if you've got a newer, expensive TV that you want to bring over.
One other thing to keep in mind is that if you have Video Game systems for the kids (Wii, Xbox, Playstation etc.) you could use the TV for those purposes.

It has been posted in the forum that your NTSC TV will work here if you get OSN satellite TV service. Also if you are going to buy a multi system TV and DVD player here, you will still want to bring a DVD player from the states because some DVD's we buy in Bahrain, even though they are NTSC Region 1, they will only play on a DVD player that is not multi system.
