I wish not to mention this but it happened and its painful. I got terminated during my probation not just because I wasn't performing well but coz of other reasons which may not be an appropriate to write here. I quit my job, sold my house, furniture and vehicles just on cheap and now returning back (next week) to get all these. I've lost my confidence now. What a shame I will be bringing over with me but the people who have done will be answerable to me on the day of judgement. I'll never forgive and forget this pain.
My daughter is still not accepting this reality and crying with tears and telling us that she will not go back to face Canadian cold again. My family had fully enjoyed the past 60 days in Kingdom but facing reality is hard for all of us.Packing is not exiting as it was two months ago. I wish the Aramco people who interviewed me can answer me why they put me in that deportment who didn't interview me and wasn't expecting me. I was the only expat in that department and they are certainly happy to have "expat free" feelings now.
Lesson Learned: Do not sell your home, vehicle, furniture or other stuff until you clear your probation.
Request: Need wishes from everyone who is reading this topic.

AC, I'm very sorry to hear your news. I've been following your posts for what seems like ages, and am sorry to hear that I won't be able to meet you in person.
I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Hey AC: Is this really a "done deal"? There are tons of vacancies due to early retirements. I'd be calling personnel and seeing about something else since they invested so much to get you here. If it is a case of them not needing you, then somebody else might.
Regardless, best wishes to you and your family as you move past this experience.

Thanks for all encouing words and trust me nothing can heal better than words. I don't want to spread negativity here and will not elaborate any details but still would let everyone be aware that don't be victim of this just like I became.
The way I was treated could easily be sued if I am living in Western world but no one (even HR) can do anything when you are here. Was i dumb which is why i am kicked off? I have 15 plus years experience with a master degree in Engineering from one of the top 10 university in the world and how about my previous successes. Is Engineering is different in NA than Kingdom. No its not all about this......I don't wana say it because...... when you leave this matter on then you don't complain. A day will come when this "group" will be highlighted and this group will pay for their actions.
I need wishes from everyone. I don't have job back home, neither home or anything but taking so many hopes with us as I know western society is like mother who respect her kids equally and give the same amount of love.
Overland: I tried with different departments already and so many are willing to take me but...................my department do not want to see me in Kingdom that's all. I will be traveling with my 36 week pregnant wife. I haven't disrespect to anyone and showed high professionalism in my 60 days tenure but in return got big stigma on my university, my education and my country Canada as well.
I'm sorry Canada I let you down I'm sorry my Canadian XX university I let you down

Hi AC, sorry to hear about what happened. I too have been following your previous posts which I found very useful and informative, so didnt expect this one.
It's obviously unsettling me a bit, as a potential new joiner. I respect your decision not to give out the details, but any help you can give us to prevent such situation, I'm sure will be very much appreciated. Seems that the department have some bones to pick with you, I wonder what went wrong.
In any case, that treatment seems overly harsh. I wish you all the very best in the future.

really sorry to have read this. This is terrible news but I assure you, you will recover and be fine in the coming future. I think it takes lot of coue to post this news and you are a real man and real men bounce back.
Your words of wisdom and advice should be heeded by all, although for any of us heading there if in any way you can point out the definite do's or don'ts that would be great. I dont want to know the details of your experience but perhaps what is it we should be watching out for. Are the local saudi candidates are an issue to work with? How good should we be in what we claim on our resume?
I wish you the best and I know you will bounce back.

So sorry to hear this sad story from you almostcheerful; wishing you and your family all the best in the future.
I have read several stories over the past few months in which people do not get through their probation for various reasons. One situation was someone who was told after arriving in SA that he was too old.
Does anyone know how common it is for new hires NOT to make it through the probation period? Is this something common? Is this something that happens on a regular basis? Or is this something rare that happens on rare occassions?

All,
I am really concern about these things. Now, I am in the Visa process. I will be working in Juaymah gas plant as an Electrical Engineer, same discipline and same facility with AC. It is a big warning for me to think again my decision. Anyone in the forum could give me advice or brainstorming?
Cheers SPJ

That is just awful! I have been reading your posts and following your timeline since it pretty much similar to mine. I wish you success in Canada and hope you forget about your experience as a bad dream. I don't know your discipline in engineering- I am a civil/environmental engineer and most of my contacts are in US. If you are ever interested for jobs in US, please let me know if I can be of any help for you. Good Luck

o Almostcheerful,
Strange how this forum creates a bond between total strangers, I have also followed your news for sometime, and I'm sorry to hear about what happened, this experience must have hurt you and your family, despite the comforting words we might try to say.
What I can say is that different cultures deal with job related incidents like this differently, I have lived in Canada for quite sometime and I have never seen people think of layoffs or terminations as issues that bring shame or anything of that sort, this is business. If you had to pack and go back home in 60 days this clearly means that you were not even given the opportunity, no need to second guess your self, or waste more time trying to make sense of something that doesn't. keep you head up high and plan for the next adventure, remember that there are many people out there who don't have the coue to leave the comfort of their home and workplace to explore a new challenge, but you had that, didnt work out the first time, will work out the next, everything works out well in the end.

This really disheartening. I have worked in the U S for 15 years and have been here in the GCC for 6 + years. Things are much different here. But I am surprised that such this happens in Aramco.
I have just received an offer and I'm filling out the BI and medical. Any advise from anyone.
I will send you PM

Stevenmohan32,
I just posted in other section under "Job Offer Withdrawn" might be of some help.
Sometimes, candidates hired lands in some other organization where they were not interviewed for. Things may be very different, the way they carryout business in organizations within Saudi Aramco.
"Dance to the music"
Good Luck!!!
