We are close to securing a position with SA in Ras Tanura. We have two kids who will be in 10th and 8th grade. We have just a few questions:
1. Our 10th grader is researching boarding schools in Switzerland. Can anyone recommend any to consider or stay away from?
2. Our daughter would lke to take horse back riding lessons. Has anyone taken advantage of the Hobby Farm? Would you recommend it?
3. Are the pools "swimmable" year round?
4. What type of classes are available in the fitness facilities? Yoga, personal trainers, swim instructors? Are they costly?
5. Do buses pickup the kids going to the middle school?

I can't help you on the boarding school question, but I know of 2 families who send their children to schools in Switzerland. The Horseback riding instructor does teach lessons, but she has a waiting list, contact her and she'll put you on it when you get to RT. By the way, I take lessons, and I'm an adult!! The pools are heated, so, yes, you can swim all year. Every thing you mentioned is available at the fitness center, plus more!! Not costly at all. Bus does come to pick up the middle schoolers, too, there may be a boundary where they don't. Maybe someone who has kiddos in the schools can help out there.

Regarding busing for middle school: yes all the middle school kids are bussed to school unless they need to go in early for an activity (band sectional practice) or extra help with school work with their teacher then they can ride a bike, be dropped off by a parent or walk. If your child participates in an after school sports the school will provide an after school activity bus to drop the child off at home after the sport. Regarding boarding schools it really is a personal preference. There are pros & cons to international vs U.S. boarding schools. If you PM me your email address and give permission I will put you in contact with friends whose son went to boarding school in Switzerland.
Pools are chilled in the summer and heated in the winter. Plus you can swim at the beach if you want to.
Yes, I believe there are fitness trainers, swim instructors in every compound. There is Yoga in DHA, don't know about RT.
