Hi All, I'm told that visa applications for Canadians can be expected to be orocessed in 10 days! Did any one hear about this or know of a recent case processed that quick ! Reading old posts this was never the case before. Thanks

What you're being told - 10 days, is the "normal visa processing time." This of course assumes that all the necessary paperwork is in order and there are no glitches in the process.
According to the Saudi Consular & Travel Services website:
Actually, in my experience it normally takes less than the standard ten days - admittedly this has most often been for visitor visas - but according to the official information, as mentioned above, the processing time is the same for most types of visa.

Thanks Grove wanderer, so is this statement on the website very recent ..like from a couple of weeks ago ? All the previous posts talked about 4 to 6 weeks of actual processing time if not months. Did the website state previously that the "Normal" processing time is 4 or 6 or 8 weeks for example? Thanks

This is the current information as of today. I can't remember when I last checked it but as far as I know, the normal processing time has been 10 days (from receipt of properly-filled paperwork) for at least several years now.
Also, as I mentioned, whenever I have been involved with visa requests (visit visas, and an extension of exit/re-entry visa for my daughter) in the last 2-5 years, it has taken less than 10 days from the application being submitted to the visa being issued, sometimes as little as two days.
I wonder if perhaps you're getting confused between the time taken for the recruitment process overall, and the time taken for the handling of the visa application by the Saudi Consulate, especially when you talk about things taking weeks or months.
For instance, I have seen people talk about issues with block visas, job les and qualifications etc, that can hold up the actual submission of the visa application.
But once again, assuming all other external factors have been properly taken care of and there are no other impediments it should not take more than 10 days from submission of the visa application, to issuance of the visa.

Yes actually I was referring to visa processing time only when I mentioned posts that often talk about several weeks of processing time, the ones that took months maybe cases where there were issues of matching les with those on visa blocks. What I understand is that the possibility of processing Aramco applications for new work visas is something new, actually when I asked HR how often they have witnessed an actual case of a work visa being processed in 10 days recently ..I was told ..Never! What will happen in the coming 10 days will resolve the mystery !

For those waiting for Visa, looks like I got mine! it took longer than 10 days, around 20 days, but better late than never, happy that I finally got it. Will soon be preparing for shipping my belongings and taking off, I hope to connect with those going through the experience now, good luck for all.
