May thanks VPainter - got it.
Just for anyone else, the people from Al-Bustan called me, they are based in Riyadh. Appears the global relocation guide I was given incorrectly stataed that Al-Bustan was in Khobar (or perhaps there is another by the same name in Al-Khobar).

Children education is probably the biggest concern for us and then housing but it's a chicken-egg situation because until you' ve got your visa and are on the ground there's not much you can do in terms of tangible registration as the schools I've seen require physical presence plus the 5K SAR to be paid for registration. Surely there must be a clear business case for people to open more international schools (easier said done I'm sure).
I looked into two British schools and they are already full for 2017-18 and if all goes to plan I may be there around June-July and another 3 months for family to come over?

Hi everyone,
Just doing some research and wanted to know if anyone lived/lives or knows anything about Al-Bustan village. According to the Global Payroll Private Residential Community Guide:
But if one is to go to their website as provided in the guide (albustanvillage.com) - and go to the 'Out Location page: it states
So my questions are:
1. Where is Al-Bustan Village? In Khobar or Riydah or both?
2. If they have compounds in both Riyadh and Khorbar/Dharan the pictures on the website - are they from the Riyadh or Khobar compounds?
3. Does anyone have pictures or know where I can get the details of the Al-Bustan village in Khobar/Dharan as described in the guide (See above quote)?
Please note: I may not know my SA Geography yet whilst sitting on my couch in London, so do apologise in advance or the guide maybe incorrect!
Many thanks for your input. Yamaaan

I just want to confirm when you are all referring to 'Pearl' are you referring to 'Al Rawabi Pearl Complex' as shown here: http://www.rightcompound./Al-Rawabi-Pearl-Complex-189
behind the Eastern Cement Tower, King Fahd Road Al Rawabi district , Al Khobar, P.O.Box 20730
I'd like to understand everyone is discussing this and get personal experiences from anyone.
Thank you

Thanks PCPC for your response. As I understand, even though my salary is worked out in $USD, I will have my salary paid into my UK bank account in £GBP. Therefore the exchange from $USD into GBP is not protected so it would appear I loose out.

Hey London Girl, I'm from London too! Seems like you're well settled now...I would imagine
I've been wondering the same and had posted a thread but appears you beat me to it two years ago or so, so I'll revive your thread.
So coming from London, were you allowed to travel with family or not? I know things have changed since a lot of these advice has been posted on the forums (180 probation period; no exchange rate protection; no business class flight (only upon termination) and others...).
I'm keen to travel with my family rather than on my own. Save

[/quote] its now 2017, does any one knowni this is still the case? Im from the U.K. and would like my family to travel with me but RA says I need to go first? Save

Hi Swan,
Thanks a million for your response! Regarding the RAA, I never recieved a clear response from the recuiter or the the Relo Adviser but this settles it now, so greatly appreciated once again (most of the posts seem to be ......... back to 2015 which I'm reviving as it's the same queries that I have).
I'v began my house hunting in the Dharaan area (where I'll be based) and there's one location with nice apartments and nearby all the major schools, so if stil. l available in the next couple of months (who knows how long it will take to get official confirmation of BI being finished and medical/visa), I'll certainly give them a call to get more info.
Schooling still remains a big challenge.
Cheers

This is very useful - I should be going for my medical soon in the next two weeks or so according to my RA. Just getting my degree verified as BI should be coming to an end from my understanding. So fingers crossed.

Reviving another old thread on the same subject of 'protected exchange rate'. I've accepted an offer and going through bi/medical. My T&Cs included the protected exchange rate but after the Brexit vote and announcement my RA contacted me to say Aramco have updated their policy and this ' projected exchange rate' clause no longer applies to me and I need to sign a new updated T&C.
There was no hiding the fact it was the Brexit behind it but how badly have I been affected (if all goes according to plan and I get my visa)? Should I be concerned? I know the £GBP has had a whacking thse days against the dollar.
I suppose I didn't really have much of a say, in Aramco up......... it's policy and I had not choice but to accept whilst in this limbo for contingencies to be completed.
Any food for thought?
Cheers Yamaaan

Is the Grade Code system more of an art than a science? Can more light be shed?
If I'm on a GC12 in Finance, what does that mean? Is it a managerial, assistant manager or yst for a Finance/IT role?
I accepted the offer (though not on the pay I was expecting/hoping) on the basis I could show my metal and be promoted within a *reasonable* period of time but that now appears to be around 3 years at leaset from these discussions.

Again reviving an old thread - has the situation changed?
From what I understand and have been hearing is, if you are on an RAA, it is still possible to move to an Aramco housing but you'll have to be on some sort of waiting list with a point system. Is this correct?
Also what are the benefits of an Aramco housing/compound compared to non-Aramco? Fare enough perhaps a few more perks here and there but is there something really significant? The only one I'm aware of is the Aramco school i.e. your kids can't go to an Aramco school. Also is the Aramco School better than the two British schools (specifically for the British folks as I would prefer my kids go to a British school than an American school (i.e. Aramco School).
Any clarification would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Yamaaan

You can spend as much as you like. Aramco will pay up to 3*base. You pay the extra. Cap relates to what salaries they will multiply for, not your individual salary with no cap. You've mentioned global and eastern payrole. Check again what it says about family status. We got a flat rate max for family size on global. Hi Swan, me again And apologies to everyone for reviving old threads from the dead (well since 2015) but maybe more prudent then to create a new thread. So I'm on a Global payroll (GC 11+) which states with two kids the RAA is 225K SAR, so is this the amount they will pay as cash into my account upon securing accommodation or do they pay as a monthly supplement? Secondly do they pay the max amount (225K) and it is upto you what accommodation you decide to select be it of a lower annual cost of 225K SAR or higher in which case you will have to pay the difference. I'm simply asking because, if the max is paid in cash into your account, then you have the opportunity to save some money from RAA? Alternatively, if is it based on actual rental costs, then one would naturally get the 'best bang' for their buck i.e. utilise the max available RAA to get the best property they can? Any clarification would be much helpful. Cheers, Yamaaan Save

Thank you very much to all and in particularly to Famwelnl and Swan - your inputs is much appreciated. I've been told by my RA that is all well and now just waiting for the visa before heading off (fingers crossed) from London to KSA. So now it's getting more serious and tangible, I've started to think about house, schooling etcetra With respect to schools, I have two young kids, both in primary (reception and year 3 currently) and I am keen to have them on boarded to a British school, naturally (not a big fan of my kids picking up the American accent). However, it appears all the schools (or British schools) are fully packed i.e nothing available even for the next academic year 2017/2018. As such I am thinking the most pmatic approach would be to home-school and my wife has done this recently with my daughter for one term. My understanding was, that before the family arrive it was a requirement to secure schooling? If this is not the case and Aramco/Saudi Gov, doesn't have a problem with home-schooling, both my daughter and wife would love this initially. If there's any advice from anyone regarding 'tips and tricks' to get into the British schools such as the application process, type of tests (8 year old and 4 year old) or anything else it would be much appreciated. Cheers, Yamaaan
