I am a new hire getting ready to embark to Aramco in few weeks. As part of school requirement, we were asked to check our son ( 6 years) for tb test. His skin test came positive. Doctor asked us to get a chest x-ray done to confirm if he has tb or not. He has not shown signs of TB ever and now the test results are a big concern for us. I am not a doctor but how confident one should feel about the skin test? Has anyone run into such a situation?
Thank you 786

There are false positives with the skin test and the chest x-ray will be accurate. There are groups of people with positive skin tests, that do not have TB.

Vpainter Thank you for your input. It makes us feel better.
We also received the chest x-rays today and they came out clear. I hope Dhahran school will not make a big deal out of TB test results.
Thanks again.

Everyone who arrives in KSA has another TB test done. If its positive again, they will do a chest xray to confirm that it is a false positive and that will go in their medical records.

Hi 786, Don' t worry, I don t think TB test positive will have any impact on your medical clearance or school acceptance. I had sponsored 2 maids in the last 4 years, and both of them came with a positive TB tests.Aramco didn' t refuse their Iqama at all. they just decide to put them under medications for 6 months. and again I could refuse to treat them if I wanted to, because they actually weren' t sick, they were just at risk if they are close to someone infected. Good luck. Emma

divenpuff, this is not your home country. Medical requirements are company policy. Something one needs to consider when accepting employment with Aramco.
