Hi All,
After a successful interview I received a job offer for a different le than what I applied for, one step less in the les ladder, and most likely one step less in the GC ladder. I'm sure its the same work scope that I was applying for any way, but with less pay.
I don't intend to accept the offer for the less senior le, I appreciate any thoughts and advice on response and negoating. I read in many past posts suggestions for others not to get too much hung up on les and GC, but I see no reason for me to accept anything less that I originally applied for.
Would appreciate urgent response

You can try to negotiate for the other le, GC and pay. But in the end only you can decide if the offer is good for you.

Thanks Vpainter, I'm just wondering what could be the reason behind offering a position with less seniority, the interview went very well, and I got the offer right away.
I'm suspecting that when they tried to match my pay slips (actually offered more) they realized they can't do that and still remain above the minimum of the salary bracket of the more senior position, so they ended up downgrading the position. I know there can be a million other reasons, but have anyone heard about a case when this was the reason?
I will ask to change the offer to the original position, and negotiate the salary, I read in past posts that some people were successful in negaitioning few hundred dollars more in salary, I wouldn't call that successful negotiation. Anyone out there was successful in negotiating a decent % more than their current pay? Of course each person evaluates his offer and benifits and is free to decide based on what workes for him, but still I'm intersted in knowing what's the maximum one can negotiate for. Would highly appreciate a response today.
