I am sorry I do not have news for you but it has been almost a month since my visa was requested. My reloc advisor has been very good at following up with me but I have not gotten any news concerning the delay. Do you have something to share?
Thanks

Probably the main reason things are taking so long is the Internet problems Aramco is having. Patience, they are being repaired.

I doubt it has anything to do with the Aramco Internet. ASC submits job le requests by email, but that is the extent of their involvement in the process. I understand that that process was not interrupted during the aftermath of the attack. This is more likely the consulate working on KSA time. Life is slower in the Middle East. It is something we westerners need to get used to. Practice patience now...you will need it later!

I tend to agree with Overland.... It has been 3 months since my BI has been completed and sent to KSA...and I believe Overland it has been 5 months for you now? I received a phone call sometime from my recruiter [not relo] telling me that we need you and everything, but please be patient... and I also talked to my brother, who is currently working as an engineer in Khobar with another engineering giant, and he told me his friend was recruited from within the KSA and took him 8 months in total....
I wish there was some more communication on the real reasons for the delay... However, my life is moving on.... went yesterday for an epic CFL football game...[Go BC Lions Go]..and we won. Visa will come sooner or later.. but I yearn for that phone call.
All the best

Ha! Seems like 5 months but has only been 3 since my visa was first submitted on 6/27. We were denied one month later. We are 7 weeks into round 2 waiting for a new job le to appear stating "architect"! Hoping that might happen next week...Insh!
Meanwhile, packing and moving our household into temporary stoe. The only real big negative in the delay is not having Aramco pack and move it all for us one time. Otherwise the delay has been a blessing.

Good morning all,
I called my relo today to ask about my BI and how that will delay my visa...and here is what I have been told: [We submitted your visa on Auguat 24th and waiting for the visa to be issued; meanwhile, your BI is in process.]
I guess this is good, right? I wish if i have a contact for people responsible for BIs in SA Aramco.... Who clears the BI anyways, HR or my dept.?
All the best

Patience is the key for coming to work for Aramco. This is not your home country. All processing is done the way Saudis do it and it takes time.
As you have not arrived yet, you would not know just how affected the process has been by the Internet problems that Aramco is having.

Kilted: Just reread this thread. Puts my situation back in the proper perspective. Laughed when I read that you are "needed" in KSA pretty bad. I already have work assigned to me that I will need to do in Kingdom. That is really building the anticipation of getting there in time to do it.
I agree with Vpainter that the Aramco internet issue may be slowing things down a little. The fact that your BI is not complete but that they submitted your visa is telling. The BI is Aramco intensive and relies on communications between your investigator in North America and staff in KSA. I am sure that is frustrating for both parties and going a lot slower than normal.
I do understand that the KSA Consulate is on their own network and was not affected by Aramco's system attack. Aramco email communications to the consulate is affected both directions, but the real processing work occurs within the consulate itself. I also know for fact that some of the visa work with Aramco is done in person and hand delivered to the consulate by their expediter.
So...we continue to practice patience. I am beginning to enjoy the less rushed lifestyle already. We just rented a month-to-month furnished apartment nearby that will hold us over until the visa is processed and we can travel. I no longer fear being homeless when we move out of our current house in a week or so. It is smaller than the apartment I last rented 25 years ago...500sf. It will seem pretty full with 2 persons and a pair of cats! We are actually looking forward to the adventure. More practice for what is yet to come.

#overland, I envy you for your atude.... I wish I can be that relaxed...am so stressed that I started to have acid reflexes..hahahaha. Another thing for me is that my Ph.D thesis actually depends on me being in Saudi Arabia since it discusses second language learning in Saudi Arabia.
Patience, patience patience..... My new motto now.... Sabr.

"Relaxation" does not come easy in this case. I continually have to work hard to make it happen. Haven't felt this out of control in my life in a very long time. But put my trust in the likelihood that it will work out to my family's benefit in the end. Insh!
There are more than a few of us on this board that are all sharing this same process. It has happened before and will happen again. Eventually, it works itself out. 8)

I second your opinion of "having been our of control for a very long time". I feel that our lives are on hold right now; you really cannot move in any direction. It is difficult for me to understand why it takes that long for an internal process at the consulate, especially when your relocation advisor has followed with the local consulate (Houston). I just wonder what level of communication the people at the consulate provide to the Aramco reloc advisors. They have to be frustrated as well as they have to provide explanations about a process that they cannot control.
I too have faith that is going to work for my family in the end and I thank you all for sharing your experiences.

Some things have been delayed due to the virus - you have to realise that a lot of information was in Outlook and unfortunately a lot of it was not backed up and was therefore lost - BIs etc should be getting cleared up now. Consulates are also checking that job les match degrees - if not a new visa le needs to be requested.

# doonhamer: Thank you for the explanation. Did you finish your hiring process or you still waiting? This whole issue of job le thingy is worrying me. I will be working as an English instructor at the ITC, and am not sure what job le they have for that kind of job.
I gues I have to wait 3 more weeks to find out....
good luck to all of us.
