Thank you expatwife for your pm. I am very pleased to confirm that oldschool communication by fax still works: I faxed my latest update to my relocation advisor in London (and included all my contact details, just in case), and she got back to me. Good news: it seems that my relocation won't be delayed (travel date: Friday 12th October).

Got a sticker yesterday. Main gate allowed me to go to gate 40 where they are issuing "Manual Stickers". Only valid for 5 days, unlike the usual 2 week stickers.
Computers at work are back up in Dhahran. Not all internal websites are working (HROnline). No connection to external internet at work either.
Coworker said that AramcoDSL is still not working either.

I'm sure ASC is unable to receive any emails. I sent an email to my RA yesterday night which came to me as undelivered this morning. The good news is the process is keep going but slowly as I learned this morning (by calling) that our passpors are sent to Ottawa this morning. Isn't a good news

Not sure about ASC, but an email to DHA today went through (was not rejected). Hopefully they will be back online shortly. Good to hear that your visa application is being processed. I am still waiting for release of a new block in Houston to have ours resubmitted. Meanwhile we wait and continue to practice advanced patience skills

I think it must depend on their definition of "main." Yes, some things are up and running, but many are not. I know that for me personally, the Aramco home internet is still not working, and the internet at my office is not working. (I am accessing a mobile network right now). I can only send/receive internal Aramco emails, but I can't email the "outside world." Much of the Aramco website is not yet working, and we're having to try to accomplish tasks the old fashioned way - telephone calls, faxes, and office visits. The computer problems are still causing a LOT of frustration for employees, and in my position, it's causing me to be unable to do my job properly. We are all anxious for things to return to normal.

Thanks for that piece of information. That explains why a sent email to an Aramco address from someone outside (myself) was not replied to. That is no surprise as that form of electronic connection to the outside only invites more trouble. Somehow, Aramco will have to figure out a way to safely communicate with folks external to the company. In the meantime, I can understand the conservative approach by cutting off the connection entirely. That must be frustrating, but not so much as having a completely inoperable computer.

Just spoke with someone at ASC in Houston...they are STILL unable to send OR receive e-mail outside of the Aramco network.

I lied in my previous post that ASC can send but can't recieve emails. In reality, the previous couple of emails from one ASC employee was sent from her personal emil address. The issue was important and may be this is one of the reason of sending email by her from her personal email account; however, its shows her great professionalism and atude towards work.

ASC personnel have now all been given gmail accounts so they can continue to operate via email.

My Relocation advisor just sent an email (this morning Sep 04) advising to send her email only at gmail account as she is on vacation. May be system is back to normal slowly?
Couple of concerns: I think most of the delays are because of people working at ASC Houston office not from SA (besides this computer issue). Let me give an example I sent my family passports more than three weeks ago and when called last time I was told that passports have been sent to Saudi embassy and I was relaxed and counting the days for visa; however this morning some other lady XXX(interim advisor) told me that my kids passports needs one of the parent signature on them so can't be sending to Saudi embassy without my signature. The questions is why ASC took three weeks to figure out that parent signature on kids passports are missing and do the parents really need to sign this? I travelled couple of times with the same passports (without parent signature) and no one stop us to travel. I think ASC people need more training on some issues. Now I’ve start counting the days from now onwards which may be 45 days or so…isn’t frustrating…..
K_H Did you get your tentative depart schedule date yet?

Yes, we can FINALLY send/receive emails from outside of the company. But, many systems are still down. There is still no internet access at work, the majority of the Aramco pages are not up and running, and some people still don't have internet at home. Things are most definitely NOT back to normal yet.
