Hi All, Just wanted to know if anyone could offer some advice on receiving their Iqama/re-entry visa during (or just after) Ramadhan. My husband has been working in Aramco for two months now. Our plan was for him to get settled into work/life, and then for our daughter and I to join him at a later date. If all goes well, we would be in Saudi by approximately the 15th of August, and would start immediately applying for the iqama/re-entry visa, with an expectation that it would take a couple of weeks (at most) to get everything back. We would then return to the UK for a month or so to finalise the house shipment to Saudi. I have an exam in the UK on the 25th of September, so would need to be back in the UK by the 22nd of September at the latest. Is this being unrealistic? I have read previous posts stating that it can take months to get paperwork finalised during Ramadhan, but my husband thinks it will only take a few weeks. My thoughts are that if there is a backlog, it might be wiser for us to visit him after my exam is over in September, just so we are not 'stuck' there for a few months. If anyone could offer some advice, I'd be most grateful. Thanks

merc82, We could all give you our guesses. No one can tell you for certain. Yes it could be possible to receive them back if you arrive Aug 15 and they are applied for immediately. But they also could not. There is just no way of knowing for sure, I'm sorry you can not get the definitive answer you seek.
Only you and your husband can decide what's best for your family and take into consideration worse case scenario, moving your appointment if needed.

I arrived during Ramadan a few years ago, and it took 6 weeks to get my passport and iqama.

I had the same experience last year... I arrived during Ramadan and some things seemed to take forever.
As was stated, you may get 'lucky' and things go smoothly (Insh), or things could easily get pushed aside until after Eid. It's anyone's guess...

Thanks for all the feedback. I know that experiences can vary from person to person, but it does seem the case that it will take over a month.
We don't have our family housing set up yet (the house will not be ready for a few months). So we'd be staying in bachelor accommodation in Dhahran, and as my husband has not yet purchased a car, I'm thinking of postponing our visit until after my exam as we could then 'test' all the facilities and not worry about transport.
I haven't received my visa yet, anyway, so perhaps we'd be unable to travel before Eid.
Thanks once again!
