Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and have searched and searched, but can't find any answers to my questions, so I am hoping someone out there can help me.
After a long wait, I finally have an interview scheduled in Houston and I am really excited about it. However, with that excitement comes a major case of jittery nerves, and here's why:
I have two DUIs on my driving record. They are both in the last 10 years and prompted me to quit drinking about 4 years ago. I am not an alcoholic, but I was a very irresponsible drinker, and after the second DUI and subsequent mess to my personal life, I just quit drinking entirely.
Second, after a 10-year period of successful self-employment, when the economy crashed several years ago, so did my business. It couldn't rebound and I ended up filing for bankruptcy.
And now I am really nervous that the DUIs and bankruptcy could cost me this job opportunity if it is offered to me. There's nothing I can do but tell the truth and do my best to explain things, but I am afraid that it just looks so bad on paper that I may be screwed.
Can anyone out there tell me if they ever had either of these situations and if they still got hired?
Thanks in advance,
Val
