Have two questions: (1) Cashing check. If I'd like to write myself a check (Bank of America) and cash it in the NCB bank on camp, what is the charge this side and the U.S. side? (2) Back yard. As a new hire, can I ask gardening department to plant grass and flowers for my for the first time? What are the choices of plants? Can I ask them later to do that (say 3 months later)? Thanks in advance.

1. You can write a check for $2000 USD at the bank inside DHA each week and receive SR's for it. The exchange rate for cashing a check is 3.73SR/$1 USD. the charge from BOA is the cost of the check because you write the check in US dollars. We also use BOA. If you need a larger amount for buying a vehicle or something else, you can have your supervisor sign the check and you may cash it for any amount you need.
2. You will get a visit from gardening whenever you want to set it up. Arriving in the summer, it is best to wait until mid Oct. to early November to have them come and put in plants for you. You get plants from Aramco gardening one time. You can make a trip to gardening and pick out your plants. The gardening supervisor who comes to your home will tell you how many plants you can have in the front and back yards. Yes, they will plant grass for you in the front and back. You can do this when you are ready also. Summer requires lots of watering for grass and plants and many plants unless well established cannot make it through the summer, so don't be discoued. The gardening club sells plants during the growing season and you can get plants in the local community at the nurseries.
