Hi, Quick question(s)....I was contacted by the Houston office and invited to participate in a video conference interview for a position in Dhahran. At this stage of the process, have they narrowed down their interest in candidates to,say, 5 or 10 people or are they still looking at a broader number of applicants? Does it vary from position to position? Thanks.

You have to go with an atude that this job is for you and SA usually short listed the candidates before interviewing. I don't think you will be competing with 5 or 10 ( I guess not). Sometime you are competing with yourself Good luck!

Hi, Well, I had my interview via video conference today. The interview only lasted about 45 minutes. I guess that could be taken as "this guy is not right for the job so let's cut the interview short" or "this guy seems perfect for the job so we don't need any additional information". I hope it's the last part and not the first.

45 minutes is about right. This is nothing to worry. You may consider more on your performance during the interview.

Thanks Earthsci, I'm a little nervous because there were some technical difficulties during the video interview. The screen went dark a couple of times and the audio was sketchy so I had trouble understanding some of the conversation. It did not go as smoothly as a face to face interview so I left with a less than positive feeling about how I came across. I did get an email the next day thanking me for the interview and asking if I had any further job related questions, which I did. But no one has responded to those questions yet. It was very hard to gage how they felt about me which is a little disconcerting because I usually pick up on things like that right away.

Thursday and Friday are weekends in Saudi, so don't be surprised that you'll get an email on Saay! It's the start of the work week.
