o to all wonderful people on this forum. This is going to be my first post however i am a very consistent reader of this forum. I have been offered a job by SA and have been given 7 days to accept it. I have few questions that I would like to ask from all of the experts here:
1) I have been offered a job in Uthmaniyah Gas Plant however during interview I was told that the position is for Khursaniyah Gas Plant. Should I enquire about this before accepting the offer or is it quite normal? 2) If I accept the offer, I would be coming with my family (2 girls ages 5 years and 7 years) to UDH community. How can UDH community be compared to other Aramco communities? Would I be able to find enough recreational/sport facilities to keep my kids busy? Any other information about UDH community will be highly appreciated. Any UDH residence feel free to PM me? 3) What about kid's schooling at UDH? My 7 years old will be going to grade 3 in September (under Canadian education system) and my 5 years old will be starting her Grade 1 in September. Would they be accepted in the same grade at UDH school? I heard that Aramco Schools run under US education system? 4)Finally, anybody from Calgary Area, who can give me any advice on Canadian Taxation system or direct me to a person in Calgary who can help me sort out all the Canadian tax liabilities etc?
Thank you very much for your time and consideration in advance!

Hi, First congratulation for your new offer. I have a question if you do not mind, I have Master degree from Canada, but my bachelor was from my back home and I have nobody to send me the bachelor certificate. Will they ask me to provide them with one and is it a copy, notarized copy , from my back home embassy or how? Thank you.

Thanks Yousif, For me they didn't ask to notarize any education certificates. They just mentioned that submit the copies of all the education documents and these documents must be in English. Fortunately all of my pre-bacholar education certificates are in English! I think they would ask you to submit all the education documents even from your home and as long as they are in english they may not ask you to notorize them. My understanding is that they will verify all the documents as a part of BI process. I hope this helps!

I can only answer in your question #4.
I read CRA website and this what i learned; There are two routes you wana choose. No. 1 whether you would like keep your property, furniture vehicle etc. health cards, driver’s license, any insurances, contribution towards RESP, RRSP's and keeping any other strong ties in Canada then Canada will charge tax on your world income. You may keep bank account. No.2 as a second option you must declare yourself non-residence by surrendering all above. This way CRA won't as any taxes from you on your world income as you are non-residence status. You have to fill form NR73 to declare yourself non-residence. Hope this will help!

I have attached the Canada Revenue Agency interpretation bulletin. Paraphs 4 through 9 discuss significant residential ties and secondary residential ties. www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pub/tp/it221 ... olid-e.txt

Hi Mapleleaf, I am Canadian and just moved here a little over a year ago. I can help answer some of your questions. 1) I have been offered a job in Uthmaniyah Gas Plant however during interview I was told that the position is for Khursaniyah Gas Plant. Should I enquire about this before accepting the offer or is it quite normal? My interview and offer were from different gas plants. This is quite normal as the hiring committee here looks as the needs of all the gas plants and allocates resources as needed. 3) What about kid's schooling at UDH? My 7 years old will be going to grade 3 in September (under Canadian education system) and my 5 years old will be starting her Grade 1 in September. Would they be accepted in the same grade at UDH school? I heard that Aramco Schools run under US education system? Your kids will be in the same grade since they were already enrolled in school. You can ask your relocation advisor for the school contact to confirm 4)Finally, anybody from Calgary Area, who can give me any advice on Canadian Taxation system or direct me to a person in Calgary who can help me sort out all the Canadian tax liabilities etc? I used a company called "The Expatriate Group". They specialize in setting up Canadians for non-residency status (no tax). The cost was a few hundred dollars after the tax deduction, but well worth it. Their website is www.expat.caI hope I helped you out.

Malta, Please share your experienec about Non_residence status with me and others once done. I am also from Calgary and still waiting for an offer letter from ASC. Though I got a lot of good info about non-residency status from CRA wesbite but its better to get the right and correct information from someone like you who will be experiencing this personally.Hope you don't mind sharing this either via post or by PM?
