Hey everyone! We are trying to figure out if bringing our 4 wheeler ATV over would be practical or not. We will be in RT and I know you can drive golf carts, but can you drive ATV's? My husband was thinking of using ours as his ride to and from work . Plus it would be fun in the desert! Thanks in advance Liza

We have an ATV here at RT....don't use it for transportation---actually haven't seen anyone do that, but there are trails to ride it here.

I can't answer you on your particular vehicle but one thing I can tell you is that you will need a solid form of transport here i.e. to take you to Khobar, Bahrain etc.
Quite a lot of people here use their golf carts but they are quite cold in the winter months and very very hot in the summer months and they are very expensive to buy even 2nd hand.
Your husband will have transport to and from work and if you have young children or even older children of school age with outdoor activities believe me you will need a car of some sort.
I have seen here on RT some Aramcons try and manage without a car and it makes life difficult and at times restricting as getting taxis here when one requires them is very difficult indeed - there are simply not enough taxis in RT especially at peak times also taking taxis to Bahrain is very expensive - yes it is possible to take the ladies bus but they have to fit it in with bus timetables etc and when you have children just makes life that more difficult if one wishes the freedom to drive out of the Kingdom to Bahrain or anywhere else for that matter.
I would conclude that it is very very important to buy the very best and safest car one can afford to tackle the dangerous roads here in the Kingdom.

Thanks for the info. I think we are going to pass on taking the 4 wheeler for now. We are for sure going to get a car!
