Hi,
First of all I would like to sincerely thank the admins and creator of this forum with abundance of information devoured here. Anyway, I'm a Canadian Nation currently attending college for Electromechanical Engineering Technologist. I noticed most if not all job require's a degree but the program that i'm currently enrolled in only awards me with a Advanced Diploma. I don't really have an option to go university route because of personal situation.
My plan is to get a job in oil and gas industry in Alberta (Canada) once I graduate. I know for a fact that people tend to over look at education once an applicant has valuable work experience. I am wondering what will be my odds of getting a job into a mechanical/instrumentation/electromechanical engeering technology position. I think that I'm asking a very vague question but any sort of a response will be highly acceptable.
I'm in my late 20s and have had a pretty rough path career wise which is why I went back to school to get into something more stable. I live in City of Toronto and they don't offer Petroleum engineering and I am now a year away from graduation which is why I will ideally want to work around with my existing program.
Thanks again.

Most expats who come to work for Aramco have Degrees. That is not to say if there is an opening that you qualify for once you have the years experience, they would not make an exception if they wanted your skill set. They make exceptions all the time, so you have a 50-50 chance once you have enough experience to be needed.

Thank you vpainter for giving your perspective in regards to this matter. I am hoping that someday I will get an opportunity to work for one of the largest oil&gas industry in the world.
