o, Joining ARAMCO team in a couple of weeks and been reading forum topics since few months, which I found very useful. Thank you for the time to work on our queries.
We are planning not to bring any furniture to Saudi and opt for buying new.
I read that there will be basic furniture in the house which would include Fridge and washing machines along with sofa and beds with other items.
Then I read that this basic furniture is only free for the first three months, then we will have to re furnish the house, otherwise a rent will be charged, is this correct:?: And do we need to buy everything including the fridge and washing machine? Or only bed room and seating room furniture?
Any answers are appreciated, Thanks

Appliances: refrigerator and stove are in the house - no charge
washer and dryer are rentals. Microwave and small kitchen appliances are "you provide" There is a limited selection of these appliances in the local area that are 110/120V.
The rest of the furnishings provided on arrival are free until your shipment arrives usually about 3 months.
Many people buy new things over time and continue to rent the things they haven't replaced. Rental is reasonable. After 10+ years we're still renting the bedside tables. Its a couple dollars a month.

In addition to the great points Vpainter raised, the dishwasher is free too. We also didn't bring our furniture, and bought most from here.
However, we kept the small dining table and chairs for the kids, a couple of the lamps and also the dryer. Some are quite cheap to rent, for example the single bed+ mattress+ box spring all cost 10riyals/month!

There are many furniture stores around. Most have the type of furniture which Saudis prefer, which are larger pieces of furniture. There is one American type furniture store that I know of. So American type furniture is very limited. There is also a new furniture store called Midas and it is very contemporary furniture. And of course IKEA.

That is a relief, thank you. We have been through IKEA and saw limited options; I hope we could find more variety in electric especially for kitchen as what we have in UK wont work in Saudi.

If you search the forum you will see plenty of info regarding kitchen appliances and voltages etc. We are from UK and all of our kitchen appliances are 240V and the majority of items you can buy here are 240V

Indeed the house we placed in has mostly 240 V and only one or two 110 V sockets
