Ok, I now know that Saudi Arabia has three main holidays: Saudi National Day, Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr. It looks like the Eid holidays can land on different dates each year due to the lunar cycle. In 2012 it looks like Eid al-Fitr begins around August 19th with Eid al-Adha landing on about September 26th. Saudi National Day is September 23rd.
1. Is the Eid al-Fitr holiday 3 days long? This marking the end of Ramadan.
2. How long is the Eid al-Adha holiday and what does it represent?
3. What is Hajj and what days, if any, would a Saudi Aramco employee have off?

OK, got the operational calendar 2012, let's have a look!
1. Eid al-Fitr holiday for Aramco is 18th,19th,20th,21st,22nd Aug. (remember we have Thurs/Fri weekends here so that's a working week)
2.Eid al-Ahda is 27th,28th and 29th October. I'm sure someone of the Muslim faith can address what it represents better than I.
3.Hajj is, as I understand it, pilgrimage to Mecca, it ties in with the Eid al-Ahda holidays.
According to the calendar the other days off are: 21 Jan, 24 Mar, 9 Jun, 22nd Sept (to tie in with Saudi National day on 23rd).

The Eid Al-Adha Holidays actually starts on the Thursday of the 25th of October until the 29th (5 days). As our leave are based on calendar days, even if the holidays falls on a weekend, it is still considered a "working day" in terms of our annual leave. This will make a difference if you start your leave, lets say on the week of 13th of October.
Aramco always observe 5 days of holidays for both the Eid-ilfitr and Eid-Al-adha. The Eid-Al-adha is a celebration and remembrance of the Hajj and of the time Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) willingness to sacrifice Prophet Ismail (Ishmael) and where finally replaced it with a sheep. Eid-il Adha is also known as the Celebration of Sacrifice.
