Greeting all you hearty desert dwellers:
This is my very first post. Great forum. Life in Dharan seems like an adventure combined with several minor nuisances that can be tolerated once you get your 1st payroll deposit. Then it's "Hey, this place is not so bad after all". LOL
I have already searched the forum and found some helpful information, but it did not answer my specific question. I have a written offer in hand and am trying to get out in front of any potential problems with my medical clearence. I know only the doctor will make the decision and each doctor could offer a different result and the best policy is don't hide anything. I have also already talked with my department contacts in Dharan and they said that they could get me a waiver if it is not a serious medical condition. Now, finally the question. Can anyone who has personal experience with a medical waiver tell me what the process was like? Specifically, what process did you have to follow and how long did it take?
I will appreciate any expert or Expat advice. :-)

I don't know the answer to your question, but I'd love to know as well! I don't have any major medical issues, but just a couple small things in my past. JUST in case it is an issue, I'd like to know who to contact to see about getting an exception. I hope that someone can answer your questions.

I haven't been through it, but can tell you that you as the possible hire cannot do anything for getting the exception. It comes from the department hiring you and it goes up the management ladder to get all approvals needed for the exception. The timing is dependent on all those whose approval it requires to be in their offices and not off for vacation or holiday, etc. And time for each of them to consider it. So the timing can be different for each person, depending on the time it takes to get each signature.
Sorry, no definitive answer to time.

You complete the Health Questionnaire - there is no other involvement by you other than if they ask for additional medical reports. You are not involved in the medical waiver process.

Hey HomeFinal4. I was not at the talent event in Houston. I did not get an offer for the air quality position. I have accepted an offer as an Organizational Improvement Advisor and just sent my medical and BI documents back to Houston. That is where I am at in the process. Regards
