Hi to you all!
I interviewed in Dhahran recently, just submitted an application and CV and awaiting a possible offer. In the meantime, I have read a considerable amount of posts (back to 2009) and find I have a couple of questions.
I have a small metal milling machine and metal lathe that I would like to bring over if I can. Both operate at 110v. I see that there is a prohibition on "industrial equipment". Does anyone have a sense of what actually consutes "industrial" level equipment? These are hobbiest level pieces (in my estimation) but are sometimes used in small machine shops.
I toured the Dhahran hobby shop and didn't find these machines available. They have nice, large woodworking equipment that I would not want to bring over and duplicate. There are no metal working machines other than drill presses, however.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cannot say for sure, but listing at as for a hobby would probably be helpful. We brought in our table top band saw, but it was after we were already here.
Also Industrial machinery is going to be used commercially more than likely, not just by an individual.

Thanks for the quick reply. Sounds like labeling might help. Maybe others here will have similar experiences.
Sorry for the redundant posts. The first one I submitted didn't show up immediately. Gave it some time and assumed it vanished in cyberspace. Suddenly it appears...

When you first join the forum, your first 3 or 4 posts do not show up until a moderator has reviewed and approved them. This sometimes may take a few days. This is a result of so much spam in the past. We're now spam free visibly on the forum and its nice. Sorry for any inconvenience to you.

Overland, I tried to send you a pm but it did not work.
Please send me an email (michael.davidson AT aramco.com) so we can discuss the tool situation here.
Thanks.

Thanks Vpainter. Every forum I participate in has different rules. Moderating the first few is not atypical. However, don't remember reading that in the rules. If I had seen it, I would have been a lot more patient!
And thank you Tennessee for allowing me to contact you...
Meanwhile, If anyone else has any experience with bringing in any form of power tool that was ultimately prohibited, I would like to know what it was. Or conversly, what was allowed.
Thanks again to all of you!
