The Eid days are included in the 9-11 days. For 2012 there are 13 paid days off. This year we are lucky that there is a 9 day break in August for eid al fitr. Next year we end up with 3 x five day breaks (3 days off work plus the weekend) and a couple of long weekends. Unfortunately my department doesn't allow me to bridge holidays onto Eid etc so next year i'll have to have numerous short breaks which is a little annoying.
With regards to weekends your first weekend is definitely free (so it makes no sense to depart on a friday or saay if you can help it). The rest of your holiday is counted as L(eave) days until you return to work, including any subsequent weekends - unless there are any company/national holidays during that time.

Or unless there are bridging rules in place. For the last several years at least, whenever there has been an Eid holiday the company has published bridging rules whereby you get not only the first weekend as earned days off but you can also get the "second" weekend as earned days off so long as you work at least one day in both the weeks before and after the holiday.
This is only done for Eid holidays and is usually included in the letter announcing the Operational Calendar for the coming year. Although there have been times when it was not included in the letter, but then announced at a later time in the year.

This is a great thread. I've found this area very confusing (I imagine many new hires would do) and not had much luck with any of the non Aramco staff involved in the recruitment process able to explain it accurately.
Obviously the above is now slightly "incorrect" as the weekend has changed since the above (to Fri/Sat from Thu/Fri). If anyone knows of any other reason why this thread is no longer accurate it would be great to hear.
Monday to following Wednesday (and long weekend) vacations here we come!

Yep, pretty accurate to my understanding of the rules (spouse, not worker here). Not sure about the Eid extra bridging, but that could be I just don't hear about it!! Jazan still still have a Thurs/Fri weekend. Dhahran is Fri/Sat.

........Monday to following Wednesday (and long weekend) vacations here we come! You do realise that EVERY employee in your department will want to bridge the weekends just the same way. Good luck getting them !

Everyone has to take holiday at some point... I hope I am right in saying that in my department there isn't critical need for masses of cover... Could be wrong I guess - we shall see!
